So I need build a new exhaust system for my 200 20v. Here's what I'm thinking chop the stock DP and re-work it into a single pipe add a flex coupling at the base of it. To that I would add a 2 bolt flange. Next a magnaflow cat> piping>a round mangaflow muffler>more piping>mangnaflow muffler with some nice tips. Any thoughts on what size to go with the stock system is what 2.25?

If you need a 3B DP to do this to so your car isn't down you can have the one I have,
then you can just give me the one on your car.
Let me know.

go 2.5 it fits and nets you some more flow... as far as the cat, go as big as possible with the 2.5 piping cats will allow, and mufflers, well i like the magnaflow stuff but to each their own

I ran a 3" on my 200. If you aren't going all out, I'd definitely go 2.5". It's easier to package. If you don't want something too loud, go with the offset inlet/outlet cans for more muffling. I'm running the smallest straight through muffler they sell with no resonator and no cat. It's loud, like your girlfriend won't ride in the car loud.

The longer one will have worse flow characteristics, but not by much. I'd just get the little one and be done with it. Both are significantly better than what was available in 1991 and is worn out now anyway.

I had a 3" on mine...stock DP till1/2 way down then up to 2.5 for the bend, then up to 3" to a magnaflow muffler....i have a vid on youtube of me doing donuts in it....it was a bit loud, but not to bad

no im saying go with the biggest case size of cat that you can find with 2.5 inch piping on it. its not really easy when you arent ordering from generic parts... seems all replacement cats go with that smaller case size or something...

basically what was said already, wider the cat the more the flow, but avoid longer as that just increases the restriction.

if you can get a catalog of cats and see what you can find.

mount the cat at the back austin so that the glowing can be seen like on rally cars :D just put some sweet SS shields by the back bumper :p

Remember when me you (Austin) & Keith were checking out the system & he showed us the big dent in that DP on the EKq?!
Wasn't that dent caused by the Rs2 Comp impeller exploding?? Can't remember...Keith sure spins a good thread

So are you after a 4.2 center section?

If you are shooting for good emissions, you want the cat as close as possible to the engine. It relies on heat to get it going.
but red glow at the tip is way cooler! :D

On my 200 I have the flex coupler in the end of the downpipe before it does a 90 and heads under the half shaft. It doesn't matter where you put it really. Get one that's 6" long and install wherever creates the least grief up towards the front.
