Well, it's official now. I spent a good part of the day Friday between the emissions station and the Nevada DMV. All is good that comes to those who wait, and the Coupe S-Line passed emissions and wears a shiny new Nevada plate.

To celebrate it got a serious bath, new tank of gas, and a trip to Cars&Coffee Las Vegas Saturday morning.

I think this pic sums it up and pays homage to Jims great work on this car.

Image

I hadn't even parked before the shutters began snapping...

There are a couple projects waiting in the wings, nothing major at this point though.

*Un-tinting the windows will happen quickly (already did the fronts)
*The VEMS display died within a couple drives (need to troubleshoot/learn it)
*The left rear caliper seems to be creating way more dust than the right side (possible sticky caliper)

Looks good, are you planning something for the front bumper? The side shot really accents the painted lowers, and un painted lowers on the bumper. Probably might need one for a big front mount right?

Im not sure how soon I'll need a front-mount, but there might be something planned for the front bumper *biting lip*

I need to research what is out there - if anything - for some rocker panel options. I'd like to find a way to tie in the lower portion of the fender flares. Of course I'd like to someday fill out those fender flares too ;o]

Nice shot Sean. It really looks good next to another audi with all that red!!

Hamburgers only, but I might have to cook up the remaining salmon from Sundays dinner so it doesn't go bad. :-D

I wonder what it feels like to have a red car that actually runs. :frustrated:

Hmm, VEMS display troubleshooting idea ....

1. Pull back passenger side carpet under glovebox
2. Stick cable back in ECU, try to screw it in unsuccessfully again.

Painting the lower on the front bumper and tying in the rockers better we're both on my list too.

Car looks good, glad to hear it's back on the road. :-D

Looks good. Can the back glas be untinted without damaging the rear defrost?

Don't you want tinted windows in Vegas? You get so much sun, all the time.

I really do want them tinted, but they need to be untinted first. Im suspecting the tint was on there even long before Jim got the car. There is no tint left in the film, its faded to clear. Midwest sun usually wont do that.

What I have heard about un-tinting the rear glass is to apply ammonia to release the adhesive and then do lots and lots of wiping. Can't use a razor like the rest of the windows...

Yup it was on there when I picked it up 6 years ago.

Might help to know when I checked about getting it re-done I was told by a good shop they would only try to remove it on the hottest days. Must be easier when it's hot.

I pulled tint off of the girl's 240sx with a heat gun and razor. It was only the side windows that had turned purple that I dealt with, but it came off pretty easy although I burned my fingers a few times. All bets are off with the hatch however. I know one thing for sure is that I wouldn't want to be in the hatch area when the temps get to 115f. :-D

lol, I'm hoping it isn't IT. But in my defense, the car was already f-d up...the whole right side was scraped/dented...

It was only a flesh wound?!?! Oh the inhumanity!!! I saved mine so it could live on and it does (savagerocco) with a soon to be 24v vr6t engine.

Hey guys, just remember, this coupe would have been doomed to a life of natural aspiration. R.I.P. poor little white CQ...R.I.P.

I think that was my car being surgically removed from the earth. lol

From what I remember there was one owner between me and when you probably got it Peter. If there was an Austrian flag decal on the rear left of the bumper and the drivers door was sprung - that was it lol

I hadn't heard that it got jacked up after I got rid of it though.
