nope, they were right before you thought about it.

seriously though make sure you get your pulley wrap amounts right and design and build all the brackets very well or this will not go well at all.

Looking forward to seeing this installed and running!

I'd agree with pkw on the wrap and bracket strength, there is quite a lot of force needed on the belts to drive the supercharger. Another thing to watch out for is keeping the belt tensioned, it's surprising just how much range is needed. When doing mine the initial plan was to manually adjust and then fix the tension but after seeing videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hNJgCjV28k I ended up adding a tensioner. My setup is shown below which gave around 10-15mm of adjustment.

Image.

After running for the first time I noticed witness marks on the crank and tensioner pulley showing that it had still run out of range so ended up lengthening the tensioner arm to provide a bit more adjustment.

i am thinking of using the stock tensioner but i need to put the fan pulley back on with out the fan and i will run a belt that just barley fits but i dont know if that is a good idea or not but thats what i am going to try . how much power are you making and at what boost do you have a build thread of your engine if so could you post it so i can read all that you have done and thanks for the help

I ended up running the shortest belt that would fit in order to maximise the range available on the tensioner - no problems so far. The tensioner on mine is the standard one just with the arm reversed and a new pulley welded on.
Bear in mind that the longer the belt run between the crank and SC the more it will stretch and so the more tensioner range needed. Also if you have any accessories on that side of the run then the extra load from the SC will put a fair bit of extra stress on their bearings. That's why I run the alternator on a separate belt, it allows a shorter main belt and takes the load off the alternator bearings.
Ive been through a few versions of crank pulley to adjust the SC speed and have ended up with it making 10psi of boost although I lose 2psi through the charge cooler so the engine only sees 8psi. This is giving me just over 400hp with no sign of detonation so far (although the charge cooler does keep the inlet temps down, it may be different on yours without a cooler).
No build thread I'm afraid but hope the above helps.

are you running stock compression or did you lower it by stacking head gaskets i think i am going to run the stock compression ratio and hope the water / meth injection will take care of detonation along with cooling the intake charge i am shooting for 15 psi of boost

It's still on stock internals and standard compression but it is running on 99ron fuel.
Tempted to push the boost up a little more on mine but it's a big job to pull the engine out and make a new crank pulley so will be leaving it as is for now. Will be interested in seeing how you get on at 15psi though!
What I am on the look out for is a pair of S8 exhaust cams to see if they let it rev a little more and help create a bit more torque at the top end.

The supercharger is a m112 out of a Jag XJR. The supercharger pulley is the standard Jag one, afaid I can't remember the crank pulley size but will check and get back to you.

just ordered Injector bungs so i can use the more common 14 mm injectors and i ordered up some injectors i plane on having the engine all in and running by the end of January but i don't think i will have the water / methanol injection on so i wont be running it to much and i wont bring it into boost

Is that belt going to be man enough to turn the M112?

These things can take nearly 60 hp to run http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?2 ... rger-Specs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

not loving the lack of wrap on that pulley

a lot of lankyness between that sc pulley and what I am guessing is an ac compressor. I think the jog near the driver side cam pulley could all be moved in toward the crank pulley and a shorter belt could be used along with stronger brackets for everything.
I am just trying to help. Now is the time to do everything 110 percent.
