A8s are one of my favorite Audis. I wish I could afford the parts on them though. And a manual swap probably isn't too much fun. But you do get the four link suspension and one of the sexiest bodies ever. Not even considering that it is aluminum

I just started reading the thread on gatebil.no. Good thing I can read Norwegian. However, hitting your translate button will not help much. Most of the text is Norwegian slang mixed with English.
Basically, all the guys are saying that the car will be totally sick. Its good to know my countrymen know what's what.
Update: Some guy posting on the topic builds cars for JAPANESE customers? WTF?

I used the translator function on my Slimbrowser, it works quite well, enough to where you can logically just fill in the blanks on the words you don't know..

Looks like Jon will be finishing the A8 next year. I thought the name Jonus Racing sounded familiar. He's the one got a 90Q running 1288hp.
Man, he is a sick f*cker.

It will be interesting to see how light a car you can get when you start with an A8...

Guys build some sick cars, but does anyone else wonder @ that 10k rpm claim, I mean the motor doesn't sound like it's going 10k to me
Maybe I'm just crazy, and no offense intended towards the ppl @ Jonus..

Apparently they need to get the car down to 1250kg(~2750lbs!!) from 1850kg for the series they want to be in, that is definitely a lofty goal for an A8 aluminum or not...
The 90 did 1265hp, the S2 did 1288..

I bet its really not THAT hard to get that light. Fully stripping one of those must make a HUGE difference. Then you also get the manual instead of auto.

Didn't Audi also put a 2.5 TDI in the Euro A6 in the mid and late 90s?

Coming into this very late, but jeez yeah. The carpeting alone is probably a couple hundred pounds, even before you figure that it's usually waterlogged
I've never had the seats out of one, but 50-way power mega-adjustable heated seats are rarely light in weight, as well.

What are you talking about? You can lift it up with one hand!
...on the cherrypicker handle, to raise it in order to set it down on the trans jack...
(The E4OD that sits behind a 7.3 Ford turbodiesel is bigger-badder-etc.in'er though)

Yes, but that was a V6. Terrible motor. Audi messed up the cams. They need replacement after 100,000kms. ALL of them.
There are people here that bought an Audi A4/6 2.5TDI with the Multitronic.
These people will never buy an Audi again.
The R5 TDI is a wicked sounding motor.

Jon said that the front seats weight 90kg. 200lbs.
