Good Evening Everyone,
I am coming to you with a plea for help,
A friend of mine, Jon Francis, is lost on Grand Mogul Mountain in the Sawtooth mountains near Stanley, Idaho. He left on a day trip Saturday Morning to climb the mountain, and was expected back that evening. Mid-Sunday when he had not returned, the bible camp that he is working for reported him missing. Last Night, Tuesday the 18th, the official search was called off due to a lack of resources. I am asking you to PLEASE take a minute of your time to contact Jim Risch the Governer of Idaho asking that the search be continued. There is a form to do so here: http://gov.idaho.gov/ourgov/contact.html

The last known 'contact' with Jon was when he signed the log book at the top of the mountain. He signed "Glory to God -Jon Francis" and has not been heard from since. Jon is an experienced outdoorsman, and an accomplished athlete. He knows how to take care of himself, and how to survive, but we're coming up on five days here, which is a LONG time when only equipped for a single day.

Also, if you know anyone who is an experienced mountaineer, or a private pilot willing to take some of their time to help with the search, all help is GREATLY appreciated. Please call my cell directly (six five one, four nine one, eight zero seven four) if you can help with this.

The story has been on the news a few times now, here are some links for more information.

Please please please, contact the Governor, and if you can spare more help let me know.

UPDATE:

I just spoke with the local contact coordinator type and she said that what they need more than anything else is HELICOPTERS.

I know this is a lot to ask for, but you never know until you try right?

Also, if you're looking for more to do, you can also contact our Governor and your representatives in our state Gov't.

Thanks again,

best of luck finding him and sorry this is all i could do help :(

"hi, i'm writing in regards to a search for a missing man by the name of Jon Francis on Grand Mogul Mountain. i was asked by a fellow car enthusiast in a group i belong to, to send a request for help. i figure if it took me 3 minutes it would be the easiest thing i could do this day in hopes of helping round up help to find this man and get him back to loved ones or at least get closure to them. the request right now is for a search helicopter. i hope this goes through and that there is continued searching for him. i know i'd appreciate the same from others if i was lost in the woods.

thank you for your time :)

sincerely,
Derek Wanting"

I was reading over this thread, and it occured to me that it looks like any number of chain letters that are circulating the internet at any given moment.

I assure you it is NOT some scam. Jon Francis is a real person that I personally know and have a great deal of respect for.

Also, I just got a call from my parents. They are both taking time off of their jobs to drive out to Idaho to help with the search. I wish I could do this too, but I've got $2500 in tuition due next week, and can't afford to.

Here are some more news stories about Jon.

Thanks for your help,

cool, i'm glad to hear it. this sorta hit a button for me because my sister is currently a volunteer cook at a christian youth camp where kids go for a week at a time in groups of about 800-1000, and she's working 14 hour days, no pay. if my sister went missing i'd sure appreciate support from others if all it took was 2 minutes to put in a request via email. i hope he's found.
