tuning without a WB is kind of like driving in pitch dark with the parking lights on.... not very fun or safe :p

good luck though :D
Oh, I totally agree...

I'm getting really tired of inspecting plugs.

So are you running at 43.5 psi? If not, you have to adjust your req. fuel for the correct fuel pressure for your injectors....

Also, are they high impedance injectors?
Yes, running 43-44 psi fuel pressure. Req fuel is supposed to be 6.8 but that does not seem to want to start the car regardless of how much WUE I give it...

Yep, High impedence.

What injector settings do you use?
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking? Fuel pressure? Injector size? Pulsewidths?

Check to make sure you put in all the settings right (I've forgotten it is 141CI instead of 121 once or twice), and your IAT sensor is reading right. I got a bad sensor one time, threw all my settings off as it read 85* temps when it was 15 out...car ran a little lean.

Small update:

Cars been running great now for 2 weeks. Fires right up, idles smooth, good throttle response. Couldn't be happier.

I still need to fine tune the higher boost bins. Will do so when I get my wideband in a week or so.

Now that the cars running good, it decieded it needed more attention. In the past 3 weeks all this took a crap: power windows and sunroof stopped working, odometer quit, voltage regulator pooped out, wastegate diafragm tore, clock went funky, lol. Go figure!

Got everything fixed except the WG. Still need to confirm it's tore. All the lines to it are new and tight.

So yeah, longtime no update.

I've been busy collecting parts and helping do sideprojects.

Anyways, we rebuilt the turbo this weekend. Hopefully this will cure the smoking/oil burning problems I've been having since August.

All done and cleaned up:

Now to put it in the car after I get my new 3" downpipe and exhaust sorted out.

Fingers crossed that this was the problem with my car. Compression test ok, Head only has 40-50k on it, etc...turbo had some shaft play and oil seepage at the seal on the turbine.

If this doesn't cure the problem, I'll drop in the rebuilt MC2 I have laying around.

Maybe sometime around April at the rate things are going...

Anyways, got the turbo in and went to install the 3" downpipe I sourced off Den's evilwagon. It doesn't fit because of the bellows on the 2 piece manifold...

I guess Den must have used the stock EM? At this point I'm tempted to heat it up and wack it with a hammer to get it to fit.

Quick question: does anyone know what the thread size is for the mystery bolt on the EM? It looks like a perfect place for a EGT probe.

Once I get this sorted out, it's 3" exhaust time.

More later.

Yeah definately. heat it up and tap it out. How much room you need? Any chance you could take a body grinder and wack a little off the EM bellows themselves?

Yeah, that little spot does look perfect for an EGT. Is that used? maybe someone had one in there... That can't be factory, can it?

There doesn't look to be alot of removable material there. I'll most likely heat it up and pound away until I have enough clearence. I really don't like the idea of having to do that...

That port looks factory. I have no idea why it's there. It's sure not there for the CO reading, since the OEM downpipe has the CO tube. Perfect location for a EGT...

I would grind either, just make a flat spot to clear. If you do it right it'll look just like an 034 DP LOL

Am I the only one that had my stock O2 sensor located there? Thats where I'm running my WB. (Yeah I know the life of the sensor will be degraded by placing it in a hot spot like that).

DP looks nice btw!

Ok update time, lots going on with the car...

Finally got the 3" downpipe to fit. We had to do some modifications to it for it to clear and added a extra 02 bung for a wideband guage. Here's what it looks like uninstalled:
Image

Also been working on the 3" exhaust I sourced from Hayden. Here it is cleaned up. We have since modified it to meet up with the downpipe. Still needs some tweaking. Better pics later:

After some problems with oil consumption and smoking I've come to the conclusion it's time to swap all the old engine parts out and go with new/rebuilt stuff. So out comes the engine:
Image

The cylinder head. Some heavy carbon build up and oil. Gonna take it to the machine shop tomorrow to have it tested and priced out for rebuild:
Image

The stocker MC bottom end with 300+k miles. Still some cross hatching and a small ridge at top. It's getting tossed so I'm not gonna bother checking it out. I might pull the crank and pistons for the hell of it:

I'll update later when the parts start rolling in and I zero in on what motor/turbo combo to use.
