I'm looking at buying a lightly used stage 2 Spec clutch(combined with a lw fw) for my urS4.

I cannot find anywhere the torque/hp rating of this setup..(I'm running a 3071r on 034sw)

Would it hold with this kind of power?

Specs HP ratings for their clutches on their site are very accurate if you consider flywheel hp like they do. An important disclaimer is that they will hold up to that point if not abused, IE if they are not slipped. For example, if you have a stage t2 clutch that is rated to 350hp and your motor makes 350hp at 3700 rpm, the clutch will slip there. This means you must granny shift, and make sure you have full engagement on every shift. If you do not, the clutch will fail at significantly lower levels. I guess this is true for every clutch out there, but it is a buzz kill when you have a 350hp clutch fail at 220whp because you launch it hard off the line a couple of times.

Oh and Spec does not stand behind anything, and buing used is asking for trouble.

Yeah, those are my basic thoughts on spec as well.

Call up southbend if you want to deal with a company that stands behind their products but doesn't typically need to because they are so beefy.

The 3071 is going to be rough for that clutch, if driven hard. It'll likely be ok for normal street driving use with some occasional pulls, but any hard shifts, or really hard driving for any amount of time and I'd wager the clutch won't be able to keep up.

The 3+ kit is very popular with the 3071 hardware. They can take a while to break in, but drive really well for the amount of power they hold.

Thanks alot everyone for helping me out!

Ok, so should i just keep my centerforce clutch and just order a direct fit 034 LW FW instead?

I have this clutch. Haven't driven on it yet. Spec's site says it's good to 400 ft lbs. At the FW of course. I'm considering selling it and getting a stg3 south bend.

I have the spec stage2 as well, it was fine with stock AAN. Figure I would see how long it will hold up with the 3071. I'm hoping that since my 4kq is lightish it may hold for a bit. I am keeping some cash in reserve just in case :)

Actually Spec rates it at only 285 torque?! Its nonsense, stock AAN makes 258 lbs...

I just installed the block on the trans and, man, pedal feel is so soft i'm scared!(compared to my previous centerforce)

Im in a dilemma here...i just dont have a the feeling its going to hold up the 3071.

Well, thinking about it, i have the stage2, but for a LW flywheel...does it change something? Is it still a SA602?..I mean a SA602 is made for a stock fw right? :?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. When I put a spec stage 2+ in my VRT (BB T68 hybrid), it felt lighter than stock, yet held 18psi no problems.

right, but your front tires didn't hold the pavement :p

Today, i measured the LW FW and its a full 3/8 slimmer than stock AAN flywheel.(Just like a 7A) Question is: do i have a st.2 from a 7A car(from the looks on the picture) or is it some sort of hybrid PP/disc for a S4?

That flywheel looks exactly like mine, which is a lightweight Fidanza/034 unit for a 7a engine. As for the clutch, never again. I liked the idea of having a light pedal and still being able to hold 550lb-ft of torque, but I can't say I am really happy with my Stage 3+
Next time I need a clutch it will be with South Bend.

Oops, well that's the tq rating for the 016 stg2 clutch. Not the same. I have the SA022
That's the same P# that I have Spec says 399ft/lbs rating. I have been happy with it at the stock AAN hp / torque.

i had a stage 2 in my efi'd 10vt 4000q. It only had a k24, but I abused the clutch pretty bad, and it started slipping. Keep that in mind, I had to be around 250hp at the most.
