Figured I threw this up here as its a pretty huge project that I'm working on. It deserves some attention. :woowoo:
We're yet to decide on the turbo setup, we're considering the new generation GTX and BW EFR turbos, perhaps even a pair of precision turbos, all around the GT2871r to 3071r size with billet wheels. All depends on how crazy the owner wants to get with the heads. (Tho thus far we're sending out the cams to be cut) The block is going to stay with stock 4.2 displacement, but will be receiving some pauter rods.

Here's some photos.

01E vs RS6 auto comparison.

Not sure how this one turned out, but we had a customer come through Imola with an RS6 that got an 01E put into his car with a kit I believe was developed by this guy and others. Pictures are here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 322&type=1. With the kit, which I believe included a flywheel, starter, and the bellhousing ring, everything went together very nicely. The clutch, transmission mount arms, driveshafts, linkages, etc. are all 2.7T A6 parts. He's been running around for 5-6 months now and everything works nicely. I forget what he had to do to get it out of limp mode, it's something like the TCU is plugged in but all the sensors are unplugged. Regardless, super cool car/swap.

Varia,
The spacer is necessary for the 01E to fit on the back of most motors. This is likely just using an adapter as the spacer.

I understand that. The guys came in to my friends body shop to buy rs6 parts. We were putting that rs6 engine onto palet, ready to ship for Scott.
Scott need that dead engine to use it as a template. So subject came up and the guy said he did that conversion, and the tranny bolts on.
He (Matthew Baumann) said he couldnt use 3 wholes of 10, but he used studs not bolts. He made few flywheels, and he did 2 full conversions already.

Anyway, may be they know something that we dont or they didnt tell us everything. I sent him mail, hopefully ill have all the infos tomorrow.

Yes you can do the conversion without Steven Kens adapter by using the spacer from a B5 S5 motor, however as mentioned you can only use 7 of the bolts, and the 7 are not ideally spaced so there is a bit of a weak spot, however it can be done and should be fine in reality.

Steven's adapter is really nice though, I have use it on a project recently and can testify that I think it is the best way to go for the RS6 6spd conversion.

The auto DWARFS that 01E LOL..The only car tranny I have seen that is bigger is a 740il auto..
With the kind of power the RS6 makes, I would definitely use the adaptor...

People's idea of bolting up differ, some think if it fits and one bolt works it bolts up however the 01E does not bolt up to the RS6 block unless you modify the block and use only half the bolts required.
