Hi guys. I have a built 2.0 ABA block w/ JE 8.5:1 pistons, with either my worked JH head (80's solid lifter counterflow), a stock ABA head, or even a 16v head (haven't decided yet) boosted with a Mazda Millenia Lysholm supercharger and controlled with a Megasquirt'N'EDIS setup that I'd like to swap into my dead 1990 CQ.

After doing some research over the last couple days, I still have a few questions:

1) I'm assuming making an adapter plate to convert the 3 hole ABA ds engine mount holes to 4 (to accept the ABT/ABK bracket) will offset the mount by the thickness of the adapter - or am I not picturing this right? Will the ABT/ABK brackets have to be modified to eliminate any offset? Anyone have a clear pic of this option?

2) Anyone have a line on the ABT/ABK engine mount brackets from Europe?

3) a) What are some clutch/pp combos that will work? I'd like to use a Centerforce pressure plate I have (that I know bolts up to the ABA engine), but I'm assuming I'll have to use a clutch disc that's spec'ed for the quattro tranny right?
b) will the Centerforce pp be "heavy" enough for the portly CQ. It'll hold the 220+ hp of this setup in a light VW, but how about in a 3000+ lb. car? Any recommendations here?

Thanks!

Mark.

Will have the answers to the Clutch/PP option for you by tomorrow...
It looks as though the entire 1.8T A4 unit from spec/centerforce will work back.
Right now just to play it safe,I am using a Spec Audi 80 Clutch.

Any idea if the 1.8T A4 Spec clutch kit will work yet?

I just realized that I probably can't use my Centerforce setup since it's only a 210mm pp. What size clutch is the Audi 80 one you're using?

Thanks!

Mark.

I suspect it will work. If you want to get in contact with some one who might have more details. Call the guys at RPI equipped. They have a 1.8T coupe that they bought off of one of their mechanics.
