Some of you may have noticed me and a few other members of this forum pestering 034 to make a log manifold for the 20vt engines that is affordable, has an external wastegate provision, and will support decent amounts of power...oh and it will have a T3 FLANGE

Here was my original inquiry from my project thread

DEAR 034: I, and I'm sure I speak for all of us here, would absolutely love to buy a t3 manifold with ext. wg provisions for the price of $3-400 if you made one. Basically the 7a turbo one or one just like the STR piece. I'm sure if you did that, 10-20 people would sign up and pay for one up front. If that doesn't happen, then I'm sorry but my business has to go somewhere else.

Just a little suggestion and wishful thinking.
To which 034 answered:

Dear Loxrider/Motorgeek: If you can get together 10 people committed 100% to buying it, with money where their mouth is ($50 deposit), we will make you this manifold for the same price as the 7at version.
So who wants in?

Price would be $325 since thats the price of the 7AT manifold.

preorders get it for $250!!

post up when you've paid so we can keep track below

Payment info will go here as soon as 034 says where it should go.

Please let me know when you've paid so I can keep track of it on the list.

PAID = $50 deposit paid
PAID IN FULL = $250 paid (not including shipping)

1. Loxxrider (PAID IN FULL)
2. boschman36 (PAID)
3. Allen Voter from 20vt mailing list (PAID)
4. madteacher (PAID)
5. mange3586 (PAID!)
6. David from 20vt mailing list (PAID)
7. pitten (PAID)

OK one question from me...is this going to be the 7AT with an ext. gate provision or a whole new manifold like the STR one...if its like the 7AT, then lets get an idea of what you guys (034) think it should support power wise.

?

I'm sure if you wanted to make a wastegate setup work on that log manifold you could do it.

A straight adapter might not work, because it be to close to the frame rails but an angled unit might work? Make your own and use an audi wastegate?

Would this use stock location s4 downpipe? I would love to get the Wagner rs2 with the t3 flange, but I already have so much money into this car. I would def be in if I can get my 450-500 CHP out of it.

I'm interested (with money where my mouth is) IF the manifold allows retention of the stock 7A intake and AC compressor. I was planning on ordering this manifold and living with internal wastegate, but I'd love the option as long as it's a no-compromise choice.

Details!
You pretty much run out of places to put a WG with the 7a intake and AC. I would be impressed if you could fit one, that functioned better than a IWG, with all the stock 7a stuff.

:stupid: This would be either for large chassis cars or more involved swaps. I think they've 424whp(on 100oct) with the 7at manifold so it should provide plenty

In that case lets see some CAD designs and ill put the whole 325 down... All else from 034 is awesome. Why shouldn't this be. Has anyone posted this on any other forums...?

I think they just want something inexpensive with a T3 flange and Ext WG. Are any of these guys planning on running this manifold on a 7a with 7a intake?

Yes this manifold would be catered to those of us with 3b or aan engines. It's just nice to have the option if you want it since lots of aftermarket turbos don't have external gates.. if you want to run internal you could always just block off the hole. It fills the void in the market between the 7at and your tube and rs2 manifolds which cost a fortune. This is for the guy who wants 400 hp and wants to spend 400hp money... not 800 hp money

Thanks for the reply javad. I'm just trying to give you guys some business since you support our community so well rather than giving it elsewhere for a similar product.

Yea I was thinking this would be more targeted toward the large chassis AAN 3b cars also. Maybe factory location Cast?

There is no factory T3 location... putting it in the factory audi kkk location then also severely limits it's fit in smaller cars converting to turbo apps. With any T3 flanged turbo you're going to have to rework a downpipe, oil/water plumbing, and inlet hoses.

Which begs the question, for 400WHP can't you use the stock EM? I know that it limits your turbo choices but what you spend for a KKK turbo you save replacing everything else.

Its just nice to not have to re-work a downpipe too too much. Oil plumbing is a given, and inlet hoses aren't a concern for most of us (except AAN people), but anyway...The STR puts a T3 flange in stock location...why cant you!?

Its because supposedly one or two of the cylinders gets hot with use of the stock manifold with anything more than the stock turbo...so you blow shit up basically.

I'd have my holset on right now otherwise.

We've test fit a T3 flange in place of the factory KKK turbo outlet flange, a T3 turbine housing will hit the frame rail, hard, on a small chassis car - THUS the 7A solution we currently have which rotates the turbine flange upwards to clear the frame rail and other things below it like AC.

If we take the 7A manifold and incorporate a wastegate below it, for a Tial 38mm (which are cheap and readily available) that would fit pretty much all applications out there. If we stick the wastegate above the manifold then 7A IM users will not be able to use it, which sounds like there are those that would be interested in that.

Like I said, what I had in mind would be catered more to the 3b and AAN big chassis people.

Slightly rotated flange would be alright since I need to bring my exhaust up a few inches anyway lol. But wastegate up top just makes for much easier access.
