Hey guys, new to this forum...just wanted to seek some advice from you guys. The plan was to drop a built 12v vr6 into a b5s4, but after some thinking, decided to make the 2dr mk2 jetta quattro with the vr6. After searching and searching, I finally found a b5s4 drivetrain. I went to Canada just to pick up a rear beam off of a syncro passat. The plan is to mount the s4 diff to the rear beam which for the most part should bolt up to the car itself. I know I have to cut the firewall to make room for the s4 trans, here is where my first question lies... is there any stock clutch/flywheel/starter set up that I can use instead of purchasing the complete set up from 034? I am all for their set up but I also am on a budget. As of right now, I am in the process of piecing all my major components, and the part where I would be bolting the motor to the trans is fast approaching. Can a 02M R32 transmission be used with the quattro rear diff somehow?
If you insist on doing this in a MkII, transverse mounting the VR seems to be infinitely easier and likely cheaper in the long run even though the upfront cost of R32 pieces is higher.
Also, I suggest taking a look at this build if you haven't done so already... Not quattro, but is doing just fine nonetheless.
