1993 90 cs q trans

So I recently picked up a 93 90 cs Quattro, and the motor is toast. How different (if any) is the 5 speed trans in the 90 than the one that would be in my 1990 CQ? Is there a taller ring and pinion in the trans from the 90? Taller gears? Can I swap directly into the cq for a taller gearbox? I am going to put a 3b in the coupe, and I would love to have taller gears. If this is feasible, I will just part out the 90, and use the gear box for my coupe. Thanks!

Different final drive. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8293
Cool, thanks. I need to figure out how to search for stuff better. So I should be able to put the gearbox and read end from the 90, into the coupe, and it will have taller gears ya?

Nope. Rear end is completely different between B3 and B4.
It is that much different, that even with the entire car, I can't just swap it in? That sucks.....
It is that different, unfortunately. Its far too long and it mounts completely differently. and the internals dont swap cases, either.

Now, if you had a B5 chassis car, the locking rear from the B4 is a direct swap, save for the locker plumbing and wiring.

I do believe the urquattro came with a 3.89 final drive, and the 016 transaxle and corresponding rear diff can be massaged into a B3...
Ok, well thanks for the help and explanations.
