I can confirm from experience, an ABZ coded for auto, but running a manual trans with the TCU missing, will not rev properly. Once the second throttle plate opens, the power will drop off, as in go flat. If you can't code the Motronic ECU for manual, then you'll need to rig up a rotating disc to replicate the tip / auto speed sender to keep the trans happy, and retain the TCU. A bit involved.

Best option would be to run an European S8 32V ECU, which can be coded for manual in less than 2 minutes with VAGCOM. The ABZ ECU has no manual coding, as manual was never an option in the A8 it came from.

OK let say i decide to go the route of the automatic then all my ecu will work and i will need 4 o2 sensors right and i will have to run a set of cats correct. since the automatics are tiptronic are paddle shifters hooked up easy and who sells the transmission chips ?
Bruh, you're confuzzling the heck out of me. :? You need to be 100% certain what you intend to do, then advice can be given based on your chosen route. :?

i have found a tiptronic FWD out of a 1998 A8 with the 3.7 engine non quatro and this is the gear ratio pleas your thought on it Automatic
1-3.665:1
2-1.999:1
3-1.407:1
4-1.000:1
5-0.742:1
R-4.096:1
FD-3.091:1
it is $700
I wouldn't buy a used ZF trans, unless it was dirt cheap, and I was planning a rebuild. The ZF trans is one of the least reliable items on the D2, and one of the most costly to put right if it failed.

I would be looking at a FWD 016 5-speed manual tranny from an Audi 100, 200 or 5000. They're tough and cheap to get hold of.

Sell the A8 and buy a Caddy with a Northstar. Solves the transverse vs. longitudinal problem, auto trans problem, saves you pulling your hair out.
If I had access to the Northstar LD8 / LH2 V8's, and I was working on a transverse chassis project, this would certainly be my choice of engine. An Audi ABZ mounted transversely is going to be a lot of work, and cost $$$.

If i wanted a N* and transverse thats what i would be doing but i am not impressed by an engine that pulls head bolts and is built like it was going in there cheapest car. I want longitudinal and some thing no one has done in a fiero yet. It is more the money part of why i don't do the standard trans then anything and i think the tiptronic will be a good trans if i can get it programed correct
No disrespect bruh, but it seems you have all the answers. You've asked for advice, yet so far, you've brushed aside every suggestion proffered. It kind of beggers the question: Why did you start this thread, if you already have all the answers? :? You've pretty much made up your mind, making this thread kind of p******ss.

I'm not knocking your theories, just trying damn hard to understand you.

^^^ You do realise it's easier to run an European S8 32V ECU (AHC/AKH) with your ABZ? The harness is the same. The ABZ ECU can't be coded for manual use, the AHC/AKH one can. It also has a higher rev limit, redlined at 7000 rpm versus the ABZ's 6500. Obviously it would make sense to upgrade the valvetrain if you intend to push her that far.

As for the oil cooler / filter combination, I would advise you junk the lot. It's heavy, unreliable and it's pretty much where a custom engine mount could be fitted. I don't know how much room / access you'll have to it once the engine is mounted in your Fiero, but I'm willing to bet it'll be tight. It's hard enough to get to in an A8/S8, it could be a nightmare in a smaller chassis. I would advise you install a remote oil cooler and regular metal canister-type screw on oil filter.

i am looking for the wiring schematic for the ecu 557 m and cant seem to find it
I've got the complete wiring diagrams for the D2 A8/S8 - engine, interior, dash, ABS, climate, transmission etc. Just need to work out how best to get it to you.

Do you need just the ECU/motor wiring schematic? The complete schematic is a massive file.
