I've got a 1993 S4 with 115K miles. I want to add the "Intercooler Kit, Audi S4/S6 AAN" and "Chip Tuning Package, AAN/ABY Stage 1+". How much hp/tq would those mods add? In stock form the engine is very smooth, will adding those mods make it run rough?
Also, I'm wondering about oil pressure. The engine oil has been changed every 6k miles(always 10w-30 and fresh filter) since new. At start up the gauge pegs at 5 bar(for a second) then moves quickly down to 3.5 bar. At operating temp - 3 bar under load, .5 to 1 bar at idle. What are the oil pressure specs for the aan? Is .5 bar too low?
Whoa, that is low pressure. From what I was running. Use thicker oil, (vr1 15-50, I think, if not that than 15-50 mobile 1) but much thicker. Don't bother with a front mount IC, and dont bother with a new exhaust other than 1 muffler delete and or cat delete. stock exhaust has suffecirnt flow till 702hp. there are MANY other cost effective things you can do and yield many more pony's.
Go stage 2plus chip or more. A proper chip should put about 275-280 chp,
seems like your car has alot of issues, id not worrie about performance but do maintance and fix the issues. my car has always spiked at 5 bar for oil pressure on start up and comes down to about 2 bar at normal operation temp and normal idle. when driving im normall at -10inhg ( boost gauge) and 4.5-5 bar oil pressure. i uses 5w40 oil
According to PRJ the stock exhaust is not a restriction until 500hp and then only the Y piece from the DP to the cats.
Stock SMIC is better than most people think. If just going 034 Stage 1+ (which is about 280chp IIRC), keep the SMIC.
Better brakes is a better investment. For the same money as the Apikol FMIC kit, you can get a nice BBK.
