My 05 turbo diesel Jetta (manual) 3rd gear just went out, I was wondering if anyone knows if the gas version of the car would the transmission work in my car?

Not very well, the gearing is wrong. Car would run about 3000 rpm to go 65 mph instead of the 2100 that the TDI transmission would run.
