I had one in my 90 and was thrilled to swap it with manual 'wire' controls. The problem is not usually not the unit itself, but the multiple vacuum servos that tend to go bad. Some are easier to get to than others.
Audi 200 Climate Control head unit
Has anyone ever had one of these things fail? Mine works flawlessly minus the high pressure cut off switch on the AC. I went through the Bentley troubleshooting guide and it's saying I have a bad head unit. Just find it hard to believe that's the only thing that would go.

Well supposedly there isn't any vacuum problems that trigger the high pressure cut off sensor. It plugs straight into terminals 5 and 6 and if you jumper those terminals straight across it should by pass it.
