I can say with almost utmost certainty, you will not be able to easily fit a belt driven v8 inside the engine bay of a b6 s4.
It's already tight as can be in there.

The common swap nowadays is the 2.7, but I'm really really not a fan of the 2.7, So IMO thats an awful idea

Maybe begin by searching which blocks an 0A3 transmission will bolt to. The BHF is already one of the shortest V8 out there, not sure how you'd fit something with more than 4 inline cylinders.

There are a number of things you can do to help a BHF. For instance, I put in new chain guides and cleaned the piston ring grooves and now I'm at 160k :drive:

How long is a 1.8T/07k in comparison to a 4.2? How long is a vr6 in comparison to a 4.2?
Going back to the minimal space thing again. Like damn that's a tight engine bay.
