I'm looking at one with a possible bad engine. I'm curious what engines can swap into these cars *relatively easily*.
Before you start laughing, I've done a few engine swaps(VR6 Corrado & mk2 gli& MC2 into 90q, Rabbit G60). Not the least of which I swapped a 3.6L PT engine into a 4000q, so by 'relatively easy' I mean more of a bolt in deal.
I've found info on the 2.7t swap & a lot of opinions that a 1.8t swap is both futile AND more costly than just repairing a V8, which seems like BS. Maybe I'm missing something though.
What I'd really like to know is if there are any BELT DRIVEN V8's (like, say from a 2000 A6?)that could be used as a replacement for the failure prone chain driven V8's. I imagine wiring, or engine side electronics would need mod?
I haven't been able to find info on that, but someone must have tried it by now given the falling price of the B6 S4 due to engine failure...
