disposing of old gas?

1160 Views 20 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  Noisy Cricket
Hello all,
I have a tank thats practically full in my v8 of gas that has been sitting, without any additive for two years.
I am guessing its gone bad by now, as my fuel lines have been off for quite a bit of time, so the system has not bee sealed.

How does one dispose of gas, other than training it into 4 or 5 5-gallon portable gas thingys and having them sit?

Wait until your local dump has a hazardous waste day.

hmm, will look into it, thanks!

small side question, just double checking, one would not run 2 year old 93 octane in a brand new engine, correct?
add a gallon of toluene and a pint of denatured alcohol and run that shiz!

thats what i do
In my experience, a 50/50 mix of old and new gas is about as good as new gas.

So sometime when your daily driver's tank is about half full, siphon about the same amount of gas from the V8 and put it in the tank, and use it!

Or do the same with your lawnmower or whatever other machine. I'd probably avoid doing it with a 2-cycle engine like on a chainsaw or weedwhacker since they tend to be more finicky about gas.
i wish i could just light an enormous bonfire
but my neighbors already give me a hard time with my project in the garage. according to them they cant sell their houses because of the eyesore in my garage

probably gonna drain it all into a couple of jugs, add some toluene and fuel stabilizer, and dump it into my grandfathers express van
free gas for him, and the 5.7 pile in there probably wont notice the difference

BonFire!!
I say anything less than 10 years old is put in the car that cares the least at a suitably diluted ratio. I would just add like two gallons to an almost full tank until you run out of old gas. I also put a paint strainer in my funnel to catch any crap.
This method could take a while, but you could mix it in with your old oil from oil changes and take it to WAll Mart, which is always a great experience, or any shop that you are a goopy of. :)
parts cleaner.
Back in the day we would use to kill weeds growing along the fence line.
parts cleaner ^ killing weeds^ and some smores^ lol
fire should go through most of it fairly fast lol

Significantly funnier than I was expecting. Awesome.
Use it in the lawnmower? That's what I do.
that video is pretty enjoyable if you just leave the cursor on 1:09 and just click it after the explosion, and do that like 15 times.
