Do B5 S4 rear brakes bolt onto B5 A4?

I have the calipers & carriers already but do they bolt on with the vented S4 disc? Do I need longer brake lines?

I've only seen info on B6 cars even tho I put B5 B5 B5 B5 B5 B5 in the search lol. Or the B5 S4 -->B5 A4 front swap but not REAR.

Cool, thanks!

Anyone know if the piston seals & boots are available? Or if they're the same as the A4?
Etka lists different part numbers for the seals for A4 & S4:

A4 - 8D0698671
S4 - 4D0698671
Thanks for the p/n's!
I guess what I should have asked first off is; if this is worth doing or I should just do the A8 300mm upgrade?

My pads fell apart- just like the front. YAY for PO's deadly cheap pads! I was lazy/no time, so my RR rotor was metal on metal for a few days before I could throw in some used spare pads I had.

So I need rotors & pads at minimum. I already have the S4 calipers/carriers, I just need to clean them up & reseal them. I had been waiting to do the 300mm rear swap to match because I have the ST40 fronts (which I think are overkill for me already).

But now I'm thinking it's overkill to go that big rear?? It's an avant but 1/2 the time it's empty. The othr 1/2 I've got scuba gear for 2 or other heavy stuff so larger than stock seems like a good idea(also to match the front!). S4 brakes would be easier/cheaper$ and also I could get it done sooner than the A8 brakes.

But if the S4 brake isn't even worth the gain, what's the point? I mean it's only a 246mm to 256mm difference iirc- but vented rotors help with fade tho right?

Please help! Opinions, speculation or btdt, etc, etc,

Those seal kits are a lot! I thought it was for both side but only one. Beats rebuilt calipers but then you get an entire caliper for $150.

Dood, the advantage of S4 over A4 is the fact that they are vented rotors. Pad surface and diameter is almost the same. Vented rotors are supposed to expel heat better BUT the only way you generally create a ton of heat is from repeated braking,on a race track for example. Im running Hawk ceramics in the back and stock everything else. If i had the S4 bits like you do,id do the swap just for shits and giggles. Oh,if you are on a budget, the S4 rotors are ALOT more expensive than the A4 solids. Something to consider.
According to what I've read about the A4 SuperTourers we can run larger rear brakes on Quattros than FWD models because the drivetrain helps distribute the braking load. I have big problems overheating the front brakes on my A6 and so I'm planning on putting S6 vented rears on to try and improve the balance a bit and take some load off the fronts. I've got 55/45 weight balance, but the brakes are a long way from that sort of ratio so the fronts are working far harder than they need to. (thats my understanding of it anyway)

You'd probably benefit in the same way on an A4, especially if you've already upgraded the fronts.

What sort of prices are you seeing for the seals? They're only £20 a side here...
double post...
Ok, ya that's along the lines of what I'm thinking. I guess any gain is good in braking and I already have the calipers/carriers, but need rotors/pads either way so if it's a fairly straight forward bolt on then it's worth it to m. 300mm would be good but I just want to get this done asap and not deal with making adapters, etc. I know I could buy them but I'm too cheap (& could make them for nothing), timing is bad though.

The S4 rotors from ECS are only about 5 bucks different than the A4(both Meyle) so not bad, and the pads are about the same cost A4-S4. I'm not sure on EBC Greens or yellow stuff or the Hawk HPS. I read a lot of A+ reviews about the HPS.

Are you using stock fronts on your A6 or? For some dumb reason I thought I could get away with being a slacker fixing my rear brakes becasue the fronts are stoptechs but no that doesn't seem to be so lol. Seems a lot worse than another stock A4 I drove for a few weeks that had metal to metal rear rotors/pads.

From what I've found The seal kit is about $42 from ECS and about that most places I've seen. Not horrible but seems like you'd find it cheaper like $15/per side. I thought I read a while ago when I was repairing a friends brakes on his S4 that there's a GM caliper that the boot/seal works on but heck if I can find it now...

Stock 312x25 fronts yeah. I'll upgrade if something bigger turns up cheap tho :) I'm running greenstuff now, but don't rate them at all for something as heavy as the A6 - I've got them so hot they're more like charred 'n' black stuff now :wtf: I hate how red stuff need to warm up, so Mintex M1144s next.
lol charred black stuff  . The stoptechs seem ok when cold above 40 degees, but not sure how they are below that as I haven't had them long enough but they sure don't work for poo in the rain until after the 3rd oh sh*t hit on the pedal.

So nobotty knows of a cheaper source or a cross referenced part for the seal/boot for B5 S4 rear calipers??

Anyone?

I bought the Raybestos WK2103 but it's for the smaller calipers, even tho the seller said it would fit 2001 S4 calipers. Anyhow I found the centric 143.33016 kit fits these calipers? Can anyone confirm that?

Go to your FLAPS and buy one front caliper kit for a Nissan "hardbody" pickup truck with dual piston front brakes. The seals and the boots are a direct fit and you can't beat $6 or whatever it costs.
Autozone - 66373 - $7.99

Cross reference Carlson 15156, Centric 14342017...
I installed B5 S4 brakes on my 99.5 A4 and they bolted on except I used a 1-2mm machined spacer to center the caliper over the rotor.
Why didn't you use S4 rotors?

Confirmed. Comes with all the seals /boots needed(5) for like $7 lol.
