That is confusing. I saw on Huw's site that Audi called this engine the NG in the small-chassis cars, but still called it an NF in the larger cars.

Regardless, the NF we're all looking for (with the bigger valves and injectors in the head) was only available on the 87-88 Audi 5000S non-turbo.

its the "late" NF, very confusing. should be called an ng. I just bought an "nf" head that turned out to be the ng style nf.

I'm not in need, as my current stock motor is still going strong. But when it's time to rebuild, I'll definitely be on the hunt for an NF head to improve the top-end.

There's an '87 5000S FWD stick that keeps getting passed around locally that runs great and looks good. I keep watching for it - the day that something major goes wrong and it dies, it'll be mine! :p

How bad do you want one?

This would be a great cheap upgrade for Coupe GT and Audi 4000 owners, especially since this is the exact same motor that went in the Coupe GT Special Build . .

I'm pretty sure the casting is very similar... maybe even exactly the same, the valve seats and valves are different though.

I think they are 40mm vs 38mm.

Sorry to threadjack... someone buy this fine, low-mile specimen!
