While in a FB discussion, someone mentioned you can substitute GM leaf spring bushings for stock control arm bushings of a 4kq. I bought a set (foolishly) and indeed the OD of the leaf spring is "closeish" (~.050" over) to the OD of the stock control arm bushing. My understanding to this mod is that all the rubber is removed from the stock bushing, and this is pressed in in place of the rubber. Based on the OD, I'm highly skeptical this would work. I could probably get away with pressing the engine bushing into the control arm (without the metal sleeve), but I have reservations about doing that...

Has anyone done this?

I remember doing this quite some time ago, and it did work. I think I remember needing to use the bolt sleeve from the original bushing though.
