I'm just curious but if You had a choice between a '86 10V 4KQ or a '90 20V 90 CQ, both stock except for spings, struts and wheel/tire combos and both where in very good shape what would You choose?

Uhm, is this rhetorical? Lol

I'd get the 4000 forr a winter beater or for a swap, I love the compact size of those cars.
But the coupe by far would be my first choice.

Define rhetorical? I'm not famliar with this word. Also ignore the fact I've own two 4KQ's in the past and the current Daily has a 10VT in it. looking for honest unbiased opinions...just sayin.
the newer stuff mainly because it is fully galvanized versus the old rust prone 4k.
90q 20v sedan no rain water leaks no expensive window regulators or other hard to find parts like the CQ.
And no CIS fuel injection to deal with or major body rust issues like the 4KQ.
I was joking around like it would be a hard choice b/t the cq and a 4000, cq is moar better lol. Im with austin on the no CIS
although, we used to have a 4000 and i loved that car. flippin tank. so it all depends on what taste you have ;)
I'd go with the 90.
I have a 4K: pick the 90! As long as it's a small body you can still say that you have the smaller car with the bigger engine.
I've had 3 4KQ's and loved all of them. But there's no avoiding the fact that none are less than 26 years old, and age takes its toll on cars.

When I last was looking for an Audi, I thought a lot about B2 vs. B3 and convinced myself that the B2 was better because the B3s were so much heavier. So I got a 4KQ (this was about 3 years ago) and as I said loved it, but it was rusting like crazy, the interior was falling apart, etc. etc.

So I started considering B3s again. It turns out if you get a sedan without too many goodies, the weight difference is minimal. And you have a younger car with a galvanized body. I ended up with a fairly basic 80 (IMHO less weight and more doors are pluses, so a CQ is the B3 I'd want the least) and I have been very happy with it. It's got 5% of the rust the 4K had, is quieter, and has some nice technical advancements (like being able to use the air vents without having bits of leaves blown in your face). I will admit I don't like it's exterior appearance quite as much, but I can't see that when I'm driving it! :p

4kq. . . but that's why I own the b2. :D seems like you have to love the older ones a little more sometimes but I wouldn't have it any other way
