840 Views 9 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  90quattrocoupe
Like it says I need a new rear diff for my 1990 CQ. What are my options othere than what came stock? Is it interchangeable with other audi diffs?

Thanks

Where in Washington are you? I have a spare or two. They are located in Spokane, WA.
90q20v from 1990 & 1991
you can buy a v8 rear diff and swap in the internals into the cq one with a little work. then you have torsen rear :)

no locking capabilities anymore though.

Not a great idea.

^^ What caused that failure? Didn't think there was an issue with the torsen rears in CQ housings.
How much torque/HP does it take to break a torsen?
Chris
I've seen Torsens fail in the manner above in front and rear diff applications. Some in high horsepower applications, some in low horsepower applications.
You can use any B3 rear diff, not just the 20V. The output shafts are smaller on the 10V Qs, so you need to use the ones from your coupe.
