Taking apart a rear caliper

567 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Alloutofdonuts
They are B5 S4 calipers that I sandblasted. I wouldn't need to take them apart if I had taped them off. :frustrated:

When I push the e-brake mechanism there's a crunshie as you would expect when you get sand media in them!!! lol

I've already taken out the pistons and took those apart/cleaned but didn't need to.

So my question is about the inside of the caliper. There looks to be a circlip that needs to come out but it seems to be holding a beefy looking spring. Is that going to take out my eye or is it only under tension when the e-brake is on?
