my turbo is dying, i can clearly hear the whine/ densit drill sound when driving in low boost or during spool. looking to buy a new turbo but would consider used for a good price. im not looking to upgrade at this time as its my DD and just want to make sure shes running right. as of now there is no smoke and it still pulls hard @ 16psi.

ive done some searching but came up empty, where can i get one?

Not sure where to buy new, but used ones in good shape are available for decent prices. Being that it's your dd, I might get a good used unit to use in the meantime while you have the blown one rebuilt or rebuild myself via GPop Shop and then swap and sell the used one. Or rebuild that one too and sell for a profit?
What is the value of a used turbo in good shape? Have a deal pending but were not reallysure whats a fair price. I would probally get the turbo rebuild before install then keep it till mine dies then swap.
Anyone chime in to what the value of a stock k24 is worth with 130k and no shaft play? I have one lined up but don't want to over pay.
$50-150
i got one from a member here, paid 125 shipped.
the turbo I bought is in good condition, very min shaft play. however for my own piece of mind I wanted to get it rebuilt before I install but was quoted 500 from a local turbo shop. there is not many turbo rebuiold shops around me in fact this may be the only one lol. should I get it rebuilt or should I just install it when my current turbo dies and and see how long it lasts? seeing how a k26 billet goes for around 1000, would that be the better option? I was keen on keeping this a DD and stock but it seems like its not much more to go bigger.

Thoughts?

TIA
Kenny

yes i get that... however i just wondering if its worth 500 to get it rebuilt or should i just slap it in and ride it out?
Kenny, I would just put it in...
When I bought my UrS6 I checked for shaft play and it was, like you said "minimal"
I keep the oil fresh and I DRIVE it and after 2 yrs I checked again and shaft play was still minimal.
These are quite robust turbo's and if you really want to get something rebuilt then do the one that's
on the car now.
I wouldn't pay 500 for a rebuild. like you said the Iroz motorsport billet turbo is 850 for the turbo (then add software and such), Seems like a better starting point to me.
Did the seller say it needed a rebuild? If so then yes, it's worth the rebuild price. Did he say it was good? Then no. Stick it in. For $500, like you noted, you're more than halfway to something better. You could rebuild it yourself. Just mark the compressor and the shaft so when you reassemble it, the balance should be retained. http://shop.midwestturboconnection.com/ ... 24-755.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm the seller. It was always good for me. I went iroz K26 so that's why I sold it.

as grillage said the turbo is in good shape. probally no need for a rebuild but i was just considering it as a peice of mind thing really.
