Curious if those who are running an mtm +1 have the stock wastegate spring in, or running a different one. Came across a 1.9 bar in the garage, was reading up, may toss it in. From what I've seen some people do and others keep stock. IIRC the k24 peaks at about 18 psi and anything after is just turning it into an oven ( correct me if I'm wrong.) that said, I had replaced the diaphragm already in the wastegate, and have not yet driven it since, but believe I may have also adjusted the screw wrong too. Not sure if I should back the screw almost all the way out and then a couple turns in, or all the way down and then a couple turns out. (Stupid questions I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated.)

Cheers

The allen screw should be about flush with the top of the threads in the cap if going for stock spring perch height. Which is what I would recommend with the 1.9 bar spring.

Thank you. 1.9 bar spring installed , boost response is noticeably diff. My concern now is am I getting into overboost. I don’t have an air fuel gauge nor egt sensor so I can’t monitor those. My boost gauge is hitting a strong 13.5-15 psi when half throttle but if I open all the way it shows 20+ which is my concern. Spring is set at stock perch height (threads flush) on wg cap. Very fun to drive but don’t want to blow it up.

Stock k24 , mtm +1, otherwise stock. Fuel pump is upgraded to dw300 but injectors are also stock.

Your interpretation here is off. Stock boost is around 15psi with overboost to about 17 or 18psi. With the chip you should get a solid 22-23 psi with MTM. This is normal! If you don't hear pinging I would not worry.

The K24 does not turn into a heat pump after 18psi. More like after 22-23psi. The RS2 can go to about 28.5-29 psi before it does the same.

Good luck.

Thanks again. Was getting pretty worried when running. Car pulled great with the mtm and stock spring, but swapping in the 1.9 and having it sit at stock perch made it feel like a whole different car. Pulled like a freight train , was just being careful once it went over 20. The tough part is I probably wouldn’t be able to hear the pinging over the car , which was my concern with not running the air fuel gauge at the least. Good to know about the boost levels. I’ll mess around with it later again when it’s cooler out and take it for some spins. May end up putting stock spring back in and playing with the screw adjustment.

Cheers

Stock spring turned down about 5-6 turns from stock works great too.

Great. Most likely will go with that and try it, that way can always go back to stock height and not have to worry.

Still learning about boost in these cars, so appreciate the time and help.

Thanks

Just be careful turning down the spring with the cap installed if the screw and perch are not lubricated with a little anti-seize it's possible to tear the diaphragm.

Stock spring back in, turned 6 in on the WG. Peaks at about 22, which is nice. Definitely not the same snap response it had with the 1.9 bar spring, but happy that it doesn't go beyond 20 at wot.
