Anyone know where to get the little white clips that attach the chrome trim to the grill and headlight frames on my 89' 200tq?

Thanks,

Jeff

If you are going to glue, I'd suggest silicon. It may be reversible at a later date.

I really need some of these. I've had my trim off for like 3 years because of this lol.

I just ordered some up at the dealer the other day. I needed one, but when the dealer told me there were only 16 left in the country I bought 4 of them, lol. Good luck guys!

http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Default.asp has a bunch of similar looking clips... I was going to take some measurements and call them or just order all the similar clips and see if i can find one that works.

Thanks for all of your replys.

Austin, I grabbed a box of those clips on e-bay. Appreciate it.

So just an FYI for everyone on those trim clips. I purchased them from seller "mk1autohaus". They are adertized as MK1 golf, jetta, cabby body trim clips, NOT Audi trim clips.

Great seller, got the clips in a couple of days but when I went to install them I discovered that they are a little bit bigger than the original trim clips. They fit the holes in the grill and headlight frames but I had to shave all 20 of them down some to get them to fit the slot on the chrome trim. I used a dremmel with an 80 grit sanding drum. You also have to sand a little bit off the expansion nubs that fit into the grill hole so the pin will push in and expand the nubs.

Anyway, turned out just fine with a little bit of work and front of the car looks a little less ghetto now.

They are a tight fit but I never had to grind them down like that just a little heat gun action and then press the trim on. And I'm fairly certain that the one or two I ordered from the dealer at one point were the same size.

Heat gun might have worked but they were definitly larger. I might take a picture of a new one next to one of the old ones.

Still better than getting them from the dealer or using JB weld though.

I think a better way might be to use the heat gun trick on the ones attaching the trim to the grill. Then shave down the ones attaching the trim to the headlight surrounds. Then you are assured the trim will stay on the grill but you can unclip it from the headlight surrounds fairly easily when you want to remove the grill. I shaved some of them down a little bit too much and they don't want to stay clipped as well as I would like. Luckily there are 32 in the lot.

Was there ever a consensus on this?

I found these.... they look similar:

http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Body_S ... a12641.htm

Listed as "BMW" clips, but appear closer to the clips on my audi than do the "VW" listed ones.

Ace is the place, I just got some push in fasteners from Ace hardware. They seem to be holding great, and were only around .29 cents each.

Photo of ebay clip next to old clip - ebay one is a little bit bigger even if the tabs on the old one were straight.

This part number corresponds to the incorrect clip (same larger clip you guys got off of eBay). I just wanted to point that out.

I think the correct thiner one is 447853674C. I'll be the guinea pig and order them too, lol.

*EDIT* - 447853674C is correct and they are available!

You're going to need a time machine if you plan on ordering them as they are NLA.

I just got some "Au-ve-co" BMW clips - the ones I linked to above. Car is in the shop but I'll update when I get it back and try them out. PN 1802389B..... initial glance over, without having the car in front of me, indicates they'll be a tricky fit. At worst I'm out $7.
