Just so you know, I ordered 4 of the C's today from there dealer and there are hundreds in stock in the country. I'll know next week if they are correct.

I went right to my local dealer in Latham, NY. They did have to order them special but he said there were hundreds in stock. I'll let everyone know if they are correct.

Nice! Could you post a side profile pic? Curious how the ones I've got compare in that regard.

thanks!

edit: and are they $2.53 each, or per box? if that's each, yikes!

man these things are a pain. I don't have a Bentley manual (nor do I know whether it's even described in there) - does anyone have any tips or tricks for reattaching the chrome strip?

Clips into the grill and then slide the chrome on?

Clips into the chrome and then pop them into the grill?

tabs into the strips first i would say because they slide in, just would be tricky to position them to line up with the holes on the grille

neeeeeeeeed these so bad lol

The careful and strategic use of a vice grip with felt or a rag to protect the trim and grill has always worked for me.

My biggest struggle is getting the alignment of the grill and the headlight brackets just right, so the chrome doesn't pop back off as soon as you look away. It takes patience.

They can slide in from the ends. After attempting to put them into the grill first and then slide the entire long chrome top strip on (which ended up popping 2 of them out of the grill), I finally slid them into the chrome strip, and then positioned to pop into grill by sliding them down the necessary amount. By that point I'd stripped 2 of the clips though.

So off to order more and try again!

They slide onto the ends, but then how would you go about putting the pins in?

align them with holes on the grill by sliding them within the chrome strip and pop them in. That's how I did it after my attempt to first put them into the grill and then slide the chrome strip on from one end failed. It wasn't a super tight hold, but it didn't seem like it would fall off either.

looks like AMD did it recently, maybe he can enlighten me/us

Are those the ebay clips or the OE (dealer) clips? Have you read this thread from the beginning?

They're from the dealer. And yes, I have.

Thanks for the replies Audidrums and Heed. I'll try them again into the grill first and then the vice-grips squeeze trick.

The ones that get slid in are for the grill area and not above/below the headlights. The correct one for the headlight area go into the frame around the headlight then the chrome strip just gets pushed on to then.

Yoda's said he had success softening them up with a heat gun before pressing on the trim.

My brand new ones required no heat. Just tapped the trim on with the back of a screwdriver. Popped right on.

I just shaped the heads of zip ties to fit in the channel with wire cutters and slide them in, push the tail through the hole, the cut the heads off more zip ties and use them to lock in place. Dirt cheap and hold better.
