Looks like you got the clearance issue figured out, but did you try fitting the 7A oil pan?

No but 7a pan would have cleared from what I have read online. I have one on the motor I pulled out the car but didn't want to pull the bottom end apart on it.

Update:
------------
Started making solid engine mounts.
I used the dimensions from the stock mounts so the engine sits at the same height and angle.
Image

Image

I tacked in tubes in the middle for more support where the bolt goes through then closed up the sides of the mounts.

Image

Painted them then installed em

Image

Image

Image

Also the valve spring tool came in so I continued disassemblly of the head.

aan oil pan clears the sub-frame, it might interfere with the radiator but thats an other issue.
I think you have the wrong engine mount/bracket and thats why it sits as its

Hmm makes me wonder be if the subframe is bent up or something as the previous owner used it as a rally cross car but I didn't see any signs of a heavy hit on the frame. Thought I also read somewhere some clearancing was need for trans swap or aan pan but apparently I read wrong . Thanks for the info. For the radiator I wanted to see if I can do a front mount.

front mount - i dont think it would fit, and even.... its not wise, you want the air to flow not hitting a "wall" behind it

Alright, what do you think of using a different radiator like an aftermarket aluminum unit for older Civic or just go with an aluminum audi one with the aux cooler ports absent?

Update:
I've been jumping around with things to do on the car as time permits.
Got the cams torqued, installed the replacement cam gear, valve cover ,and timing set.

Image

I need to get some more loctite for the timing cover bolts.

Also got the fuel lines hooked up. I used the 7a feed line as the aan had a different size fitting.

Image

Started to clock the turbo for ideas of piping route

Image

Ran the harness through the firewall and got most of the engine side stuff ran or connected. I'm thinking of putting the ecu on the trans tunnel along with the battery cable.
Image

I also got the 7a flywheel installed and installed a 3b pressure plate with a spec clutch disc I already had. I would of used the spec pressure plate to but it's for an aan. Curious to how this combo will work out.
. This is the car as she sits right now. Almost close but still far to firing it up.
Major things still need done:
Turbo oil/water lines
Trans/axles install
Drain old gas out
Finish the harness/ electrical
Coolant system
Intercooler/ charge pipes
Engine oil/ coolant
Ignition coil/plugs
Down pipe( going to just do a dump after the front axle till I can do a full system)
And crank case breather system

Update:
Turned the car around in the garage and got some stuff done of the list.

I Decided to hold off on the 01e swap till I have all the parts to do it. I cleaned up a bit the spare 01a transmission to go back in since the original had some grinding when shifting to 3rd and seen rallyX abuse.

Image

After a bit of cleaning with the power washer I went ahead and put new gear oil in. Now it's ready for install!

Image

After a bit of a stuggle I realised that unbolting the tierod attachment point on the rack and removing the arms makes it way less of a fight to get the trans in place without a trans jack. With some finesse, finally got the splines lined up and properly engaged. Bolted in the transmission and starter but still need to install the shift linkage and trans mounts/arms. I also installed spark plug in the motor just need to get some coils.

Image

Next I want to get the turbo oil and cooling sqaured away. I ordered some stuff to get that finished hopefully next week so then I can mount the manifold, turbo and waste gate.

Got some stuff done.

Chopped up a stock return hose and welded on a 10 an fitting.

Image

Image

Image

Got all the flanges and fitting in for the turbo so I mocked up then made AN lines for the oil and water cooling.

Some of the fittings
Image

Image

First time ever assembling hoses. I think it went well.

Image

Image

Image

Mocked up lines finger tight

Image

ImageImage
Image

After i was satisfied with the lines routing I pulled the turbo back off for a little bit of cleaning

Before cleaning
Image

After cleaning the cover and compressor blades.

Image

Image

Next I fully bolted the manifold wastegate and turbo on then connected the lines for the final time.

Image

Image

Image

I still need to do lines for the oil cooler but im happy the turbo related lines are done.
I also got in a vac booster from a buddy to convert the brakes later on.

Got the oil cooler lines done and installed

Image
I made a coupler for the maf with provisions for the bypass valve and other line.

Image
Image
Image

Its a tight fit but it will work for now.

Image

Next i started the inter cooler to intake charge pipe from 3in tubing.
Image

With a sawzall i attempted some pie cuts for the first time with some 2.5 in straight tubing
Image
Image

After I grafted it into the 3in and added the port for the isv tubeImage

Image
ImageImage

Up next was the turbo to intercooler charge pipe. Got every thing mocked up then weldedImageImage

I started mocking up tho down pipe and got it tacked up. Also I added a bung for wide band O2. A few more tweaks then I can weld it up

Update:
Made some progress on the car
Finished up the downpipe and welded everthing up. The welds didnt come out as good as I'd like as I didnt realise I was low on argon but all in all the welds are solid
Image

Image

Image

After I got the trans mounting arms in. I had a pair of after market c5 a6 trans mounts that looked like it would bolt up. So I took apart the mounts amd kept only the base and center part and bingo! C5 solid mounts on a b3. Had to adjust the motor slightly as it was angled to the right a bit but after that everything lined up nicely

Image

Finished the cooling system up for the most part. I ended up sticking with trying the honda half radiator for now to see how it goes. I will ve adding adding two 12in fans if space permits. All the coolant lines besides needing to T in the overflow tank into the lower radiator hose is done. I opted to bypass the after run pump as i figured if a good cool down drive after a spirited run would be fine.
Image

Image

Lastly I got the hydro brake booster swapped to a vacuum booster. I pulled out the brake bomb and swapped the old rack return line with a 6an line to the tank. Going to reuse the 4 an line I intalled prior to the aan swap sometime ago for the feed.

Image

Image

Image

One thing Im wondering about is the feed port on the pump for the brake bomb. Can I just just block it with a bolt and crush washer or run back into the tank. I plan on getting a vac booster pump but for the time being ,what to do with the current pump now extra port?Image

Update:
Got the car wired, dash almost done so I fired the motor up but got a issue after the first warm up im trying to solve.
Image

The oil warning light comes on a couple seconds after starting and i can hear valvetrnain tap. The oil pressure gauge shows good pressure oil level is good. I swapped the check valve thats behind the pressure transducer and swapped the oil pressure switch with a know good one. I pulled off the valve cover and cranked the engine but it doesnt look like much or any oil is getting up there since i dont see any oil squirting up but just some small puddles of oil mostly on the exhaust side. I also pulled the oil switch back out and cranked to see if i get any oil and there is some coming out of there.

Before i pull the pan and pump off to double check things has anyone btdt or got any ideas what can be the issue??
Some input would be very much appreciated!

Swap the pins on the oil pressure sensor. The lifters should quiet down after a little bit. Prime it first by cranking over a bit with the fuel pump fuse pulled.

I primed it with no spark or fuel and plugs out before the initial start up and the gauge read about 1 bar cranking and was about 4.5 -5 bar above 2000 rpm warm. Maybe i didnt go long enough. Ive swapped the pins on the sensor back and forth already. Currently black plug is closer to the hump of the sensor and the blue on the furthest. Was going to pull the temp sender on the pump to push oil in there and see if its air in the pump still but i know i have oil pressure as the gauge shows it and with the cooler line loose if was pumping presurized oil out. Hiw long does it take for lifters to quiet. I figured it woukd be about a few mins but. Its still tapping like theres low or no oil

So looks like oil is getting to the head now. Lifters are still noisy when up to temp. I got the axles installed, changed the center support bearing with a bmw unit ( required some modification) and installed the drive shaft and shift linkage.
Pulled the car off jack stands and for the first moved under its own power with the swap.

Update:
Got more stuff done on the project-

Installed the hood, headlamps and bumper.
I had to cut some of the bottom out of the bumper for the intercooler but I think it came out good

Image

Image

I also painted the core support as I felt it blended better with the grille an air guide Image

As for chasing the oil pressure issue, I finaly got a chance to test the oil pressure at the port for the oil pressure switch. There is good pressure so im pretty sure now that its just an electrial issue. The lifters dont sound like a sewing machine anymore but there is still some noise so I plan on just getting new ones when i get the chance.

So been a while since I last posted so figered I'd do an update.
Made a catch can for the car. Probably overkill size wise as its 4x4x9in. I still need to make a mounting bracket to place it where the abs module used to be ImageImageImageImageImage

The BPV plumbing is done, new tie rods, sorted out the front strunt mount and installed a good wheel knuckle since the old ones wheel bearing was shot.
Image

Got my hands on a 4kqdrive shaft so I can do a 01e swap later on in the cars progression. Image

Haven't updated for a while. Lately I've had some more "free time" than usual so I figured I'd knock out some stuff that is on the to do list.

I got the catch can mounted and venting system done now.
Cleaned up the harness bundle a bit and ran a bit better under hood. I still have to plug some fire wall holes from the hvac and stuff aswell.

I made a bracket and used a heim link for the alternator so that's now sorted. Just need to hit it with some black paint.

I also made a battery mounting tray for the battery relocation. I only did a few short weld beads as it seemed pretty sturdy will probably add an angled brace though. I Still need to get bettery a tie down strap and paint it the as well.
