Well, decided I needed another 4KQ in my life, found a couple around they are not common in my neck of the woods so when they come up I tend to jump on em. Had one come up and was going for cheap. Drove out 100 miles to see the car and turned out it was much rougher than expected. He wanted 900 bucks for it. I decided to take it on a test drive, and was wowed by its performance. It drove awesome, cruise and AC even work flawlessly, everything perfect. Down side it has exited the roadway at some point and entered a forest backwards. I told him I would buy it for 600 as it was rougher than expected and he accepted. On the drive home I fell in love with it, having never driven a stock 4kq I was pleasantly surprised by its peppiness.

Now, while most of you (probably all) will think im crazy, but as I work in auto body, im gonna save it. I had just parted out another haggard red 4kq, and sold almost all its parts to a fellow motorgeeker, I was able to score back a red door, and tail light.

On the rack at work already

Began pulling the body damage.

Had to take it off the rack for regular work to resume, so I decided to give it a little bit of love, and see if its still red under that fade, and it is :)
Image

Plan to make it my daily, while putting work into my CQ normal duties go to my S-10, but it has no soul, and I hate it. eventually mayble ill do a 10vt time will tell, something like this is what I have in mind
Image

While dirty it has near flawless Quattro script interior

this 4kq gave its life for a couple projects (3) its Quattro floor are going in my sport Quattro build,

This car was Very rusty and had very poor bodywork done in both quarters, had inch thick body and put your finger through it rust :(

what was previous owner doing to damage the car like that? snow drifting and hit a tree...
Anyway nice score! for that price and it is in running condition plus AC. it is a no brainer

They didn't say, I bought it from the original family, and they lent it to a cousin, guess he thought it was a rally car. The exhaust tip and muffler were bent so bad it was exiting behind the driver rear wheel, I thought someone did a ghetto side exit on it lol. I put a jack handle in it and it bent right back to where it was supposed to go haha.

Did a bit more, redid the window trim in plasti dip, cheap and easy to redo later. also hate the stock steering wheels so I put in a grant. tried some night shades on the tails, don't think I care for it, I may try red tint. I just don't care for the amber on em....

Here you can see the lower rear panel damage as well

Steering wheel

The tidy little JT 2.3, doesn't leak a drop of anything, and seems to have most of its ducks still quacking lol.

Red embroidered Quattro matts, tho its hard to see the stitching,

I know of only 3 CQs one being a little ole lady, 2 4000's including mine, and a couple other older audi's a 20v 200 avant and a couple urs4 running around, everything else is B5 and newer. Ive had a hand in some big power B5 S4 in our neck of the woods.

Started on the front today pulled front bumper and fender, have a red fender to put on but thinking on a quick re spray for the whole car. I want it to be nice. Also cut out the damaged section of rocker.

Nice, I admire the determination to save it. Generally not an option in New England where they salt the crap out of the roads. Good Luck!

Well, I was approached with an offer to purchase my CQ and I couldn't refuse. I will now continue to build this car into an "S4000" My AAN will now be going into this in time. Still working on bodywork, and paint, but my block is now finished at the machine shop, and gave it a quick paint job. my brackets and mounts etc from the AAN will be going to the powdercoater soon.

for my engine builders out there, whats the popular choice for rings and bearings for the AAN/3B?

bearings, I see a lot of choices, but rings I see Goetz, and ITM? the ITM seem super cheap, 33 bucks for a full set.... sounds.... fishy....
