I decided to not put the rear factory heat shields back on, put heat shield directly on the chassis instead.

Ok so wasn’t happy with the rear cast control arm positioning... went back to AK MSports for some more parts.

Quality is 10/10. I’ll let some pictures do the talking.

Moving back to the front of the car, hate re work so I paused to get started on the CAE shifter install. Video of it but here are a couple of pictures as well.

Also did some seam sealing with some structural adhesive around handbrake bracket install (no I’m not a pressure welder that is confident in it being sealed)!

Now back to work on front end...

Front end back together, still need to center subframe.

My gearbox did not have one of the holes drilled to mount CAE bracket.

Pulled the engine out of the crate, starting to bolt a few things on before dropping it in.

Beautiful!

Maybe you want to add one more bolt for that seal.

An did you drill and tap the last bolt when your engine was torn down? I’m leaning towards your tab idea...

Some good progress this weekend.

I keep thinking I should be done cleaning parts and then I find more grimy stuff...

Image

Ready for a splash of paint.

Image

Tilton twin disk will be going in. 034 bits to make it all work.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The factory heat shields should help keep temps down, does hide the Iroz manifold but function over fashion!! Still needs a cleaning.

Image

Some Iabed Ind, glad we have people like Issam doing development still!

Image

Image

Doing port injection water/meth, measured and recheck a lot before drilling! Went to the boys shop for an extra set of hands and drill press...3 bits to get to the final size.

Image

Image

Image

I’m Happy with the results

Went to start putting my flywheel on and hit a wall...

The crankshaft center that the flywheel goes over is .006 inches larger than the flywheel. I would expect tight but not certain if that is too tight?

Thoughts?

Went to install the speed sensor in the transmission, it is out of my other 01e. It’s way to long. Anyone have a part number for the shorter sensor?

This is the one that is too long.

Image

Much shorter one needed...

Starting to plumb stuff before I drop the engine in.

Still have the Kool tool for rubber hoses - almost everything will be PTFE though other than coolant
Image

Image

Image

-8 PTFE for the main fuel lines
Image

Image

Image

Silicone fibreglass sleeve over anything near heat... some silicone tape to seal the sleeve.

Image

Black fittings for supply and blue/red for return lines.

If you didn’t know, you’d think I was drinking when I put this together... regulator and then filter, that way the ECU will see the proper pressure... moving stuff now.

After some back and forth with people far smarter than I am, filter will be going back to my initial configuration... far easier to see pressure drops before the regulator...

Dropped the engine and tranny in so I can finish mocking everything up, it will have to come out one more time... pleased with the time, took around an hour without an engine hoist.

I’m fortunate that the car was very complete, factory heat shield. Wouldn’t be to difficult to bed up though. 2 pieces.

Installed injectors and then wasted a bunch of time looking / planning wiring...

ID2000 so I can run E85 with the bigger turbo.

Simplest things seem to take the most time. Working on attaching all of the modules (Power Cell’s) in the car... still have one under the dash to do and then find a spot for the motion control module.

Removed the front fuse box, hacked it up, and attached the Power Cell.

Image

Found a good spot to put the rear Powercell. Used some old material I had laying around, installed a couple of nutserts to hold everything in place...
