Yeah I know - no creativity spared on the subject.

Here is a bit of history from the Canadian Autotrader (Toronto - European and Japanese Cars). Yep they had paper and private listings back then, where did I put my zimmer.

Image
my first ur-quattro, originally owned co-incidentally by my favourite drummer. And the paint was hardly dry on the rust
Image
my second ur-q, the tyres were misrepresented in the ad, they were 285/40 ZR15s F&R, also owned by Mr. Peart, strange
Image
no 3, this car has had more engines than sets of tyres, not owned by Mr. Peart

as far as I know.....

None of the cars look quite like they did back then and a couple of others have come, gone, and sometimes stayed in the interim.

Hmmm,

I recognize those cars. I think I'm seeing the 3rd one
tomorrow night for a 3" complete exhaust system.

And oh ye, I've also had the pleasure with you and Martin of doing a couple of engine swaps on that car, including building the current engine....well the bottom end anyway.

Actually now that I think about it, Martin is ahead of me by 1 engine swap on that car.

The 3rd car is my favorite car by far in your collection........okay maybe a little ahead of the RS2...,.....just maybe.

Fun and games,

Cheers,

Criag :D

why'd you block out the pricing? i'd get a kick to see what was being asked for them back in the day.

Say...

Is it true that the Neil Peart car came with a Rush tape in the casette player? :-D

(Or just another urban legend?) :wtf:

What happened to you page Mike? I was looking for it a while back.

gosh, I wish they made that tire size still. 285-40-15s would be the bees knees. Those wheels are sweet. I would plan an entire project build around them:)

I was thinking about engine swaps on that car on the way into
work this morning.

I think your one swap ahead of Martin also........yikes.

That was my urq!

It came with a cassette of "Power Windows" in the original cassette deck. That tape lives in the car permanently. It didn't seem right to remove it considering the odd Rush-urq connections.

Mike, we should post up some pics from our trips. There have been quite a few.

You have to rescue the slim fast '85.... I am sure new family of mice are making a new nest in there.

Can't wait to hear that 3" exhaust with RS2 turbo! Woohoo!

No shit Martin? You are serious? it was a bit over the top, but would have been a sweet track base! Somebody could have put 305s under htere with little to no effort. Is there more to the story?

Eh, I guess the Jenny Craig special seems to have caused some tension. :hide:
A bit of a long story, but let's just say the wide bodied car aqua planed across three lanes of traffic hit the central barrier and bounced back off the road. This kind of put me off 285 wide front tires which eventually both Yokohama and Pirelli stopped making in a 15" size. I contacted BBS to get new shells for the rims to come down to a 245 but they said the wheels were custom and wouldn't support.

That left me with the choice of custom wheels like Fiske or sport ronals with big spacers, neither of which interested me. Oh and the car was now more shades of alpine white than a Scotsman in Majorca.

So I looked into ur-q front and rear fenders $10K+ at the time, that wasn't going to happen. So since I always liked the coupe quattros back in Europe I decided to turn it in to one of them, you know Ruf yellow bird.

Pictures to follow, Hank reach for the valium.
