She is still going strong. I am actually thinking of selling the car if there is any interest. I picked up a 1981 bmw 320is that I might build.

Nice car... I missed this build thread :/

I wonder how many pearl white 5 spds there are. I know of three - mine, Allan's, and yours now

If you do decide to part with it, I'd love to buy the headlights off of you! :P I have a set of stock ones I could send you so there's no downtime. Just a thought

Can say it is definitely a peace of mind to come across this thread. Figured I would give this a bump as I am the proud new owner of this fine automobile. May the V8s live on!

Will try to keep updated

Thanks guys. No swap... Yet ;) I am going to enjoy the car for what it is now, I'm extremely happy with it, I can't get this perma grin off my face.

As for the car, I couldn't say no. I had nightmares of what would happen if this was sold on fleabay or crookslist. It's in good hands.

No serious projects into it yet, just going to enjoy the winter and the 90000 trips to the self wash bays to keep it clean. Have to source mud flaps ASAP to help with that.

Thanks again Mike! I'm glad we were able to make something work. I hope you have a good winter with her. I'm excited to see how she goes in the snow.

Cheers, Keith

As am I, though am having second thoughts about doing so. The car is so clean, I feel like I'm killing a unicorn by driving it up here, but also that being said it needs to be driven. I am considering not putting it through the snow though and just using the coupe in storms. We'll see how that goes. I can't pull myself away from the car, I've fallen in love with it more and more as I drive it

its been driven in the winter before a few owners ago, you can get a fluid film application kit and keep it soaked up with that. Thats what I am doing with my 90 that I just restored. Its a shame to have an old audi and not experience its glory in the snow.
Your v8 spent a winter sleeping under several feet of snow in my field with a couple other cars one year. Glad to see it being used.

I'll take that into consideration. Surprisingly cheap for a gallon of that stuff, might not be a bad idea at all. Looks like I have a project for myself this week.

Next step is diagnosing the p/s. I'm not a fan of the sound the pump is making right now, and line from bomb is a bit saturated. Have to fix ASAP. I've never had luck with p/s and old audis , but that's fun of owning them, always learn something nee

BITOG Rust Proofing - this method works well, but the mineral spirits take awhile to flash off in cold weather. I "cook" mine up in a crock pot from Goodwill and spray it with a Harbor Freight HVLP gun :P

Figured I'd give an update (thanks to all that have spoken with me and given me pointers) car is still kicking well. No such thing as winter when driving this thing, it was perhaps the most amazing ride in snow I've had.

Few things to come in the next couple weeks, going to do a full tuneup, timing belt, flush power steering, and give it some real tlc ( didn't need much) but weather seems to be permitting lately. I'll post pics of winter mode soon( picked up some blizzaks and a set of some cheap winter wheels came off of an S5.)

I'll keep posted back as soon as I can.

Cheers

My wording was terrible when I said that. The wheels I have on did infact come off of an S5, though they are not the stock wheels, they're just some cheaper beater winter wheels. They look nice though, I'll take some pictures when it's sunny out.

Looking to source either some bbs speedlines or bbs CH, I'm thinking they would suit the car well, more period correct.

Side note, I put in the short shift kit today, man how much nicer it is. Just feels much more solid and connected with each shift.

Bad note, a leak has sprouted. I have yet to source exactly where it is (which line etc), definitely power steering. Old Audi's blessing (or curse) has to be leaky power steering systems. I can not seem to escape it.

So, piece of cardboard under it tonight and I'll diagnose it furthermore.

The leaks just let you know you have fluid. It's when the leak stops that I worry.. haha

Look like AMG replicas, which work well on our cars too...
