Hello everyone. I purchased a 90 cq about two months back and I have big plans for the car. However it will move a long slowly due to money and time. So far I have picked up a 7a short block from Peter with 150k miles. I bought a pair of dm forged h beams and je forged 82.5mm pistons. My goal is 600 whp. Plans: Built block 01e swap Stripping down interior and overall weight reduction on the car. Race seats and a roll cage. Here are some starting pics and I'll upload more as I go.

nice car im in the process of building my coupe as well.. going vems was an easy decision.
look into vems as well . they are pretty cheap if you wire it yorself like 875.. which is almost the price of ms3 with a wideband gauge.
there is no compairison between vems and ms.. ms3 still doesnt have wideband, egt, or knock. vems has all of this and a ton of motorsport features all built in.. ms you have to add alot of these.. launch contorl ,boost control , antilag, flatshift, watermeth contorl, nitrous.. and more

Nice. I do already have a plx wideband guage but the built in launch control, booste control etc. would definitely save money. Maybe I'll sell my wideband to get some extra cash for vems.

I'm on ms1 and will have launch control with extra code... Also, the 5000 has an 016 trans, not 01e.

nope. The way to check for sure is the shift pattern. In the 01E, reverse is up and to the left. 016 is down to the right, where gear 6 is in the 01E 6-speed.

Good to know. Thank you for clarifying so I don't buy the wrong tranny.

No problem. If you're willing to drop the cash, Loxxrider has an 01E for sale. I guess it's mildly built. Someone will have to verify, but I believe the 016 can handle decent power?

well. my goal is 600 at the wheels. So I might as well just save up for 01e but before I even get to that point I'm going to get vems so I can get that portion out of the way.

I always thought the wood was little light on these cars and thought it would look really good if you could stain it really dark and put a nice clear coat over it. If that was real wood and it could be stained almost black while still having the wood grain it would look great. Nice car though, I was never much for red paint but seeing it on these cars makes me second guess it. The car looks very nice, hopefully the project works out well for you.

welp. My suspension has gone to hell worse than it was when I bought my car. Soooo. I bought H&R sport springs, new koni yellows, and 034 strut mounts. I'll take pics and post progress on thursday hopefully.

Hank told me his friend had some brand new and I was going to buy those at a small discount but they ended up not being the right size but because Hank is a stand up guy he ordered me new ones at the price he offered me.

I got the struts put together and on. The car drives 1000 times better now. I have to replace rear ball joints. Those will be here thursday.
