That would have been my best bet....

find an old skool metal hotrod shop with old metal workers... years of experience and they can do things that will absolutely blow you away.... and you'll think they just use a bunch of bondo to fill and smooth it out ;)

And years of experience = years of money.Just like any profession...

Local guy here is doing a restore on an old aluminum chassis - I believe an Austin allthough it looks more like a modern day TVR.He got a quote of $35,000 JUST TO REDO the sheet panels.Whatever the case the stuff isnt cheap but what is?

According to his OP it is a "G60 Transmission" not sure the code or if that changed.

Well summer came and went, and guess what? The CQ didn't move an inch. A mixture of excuse prevented any wrenching since I last posted. The best of them was my newest toy, a 1991 911 Turbo. The worst is that I just lost interest. But oddly enough the 911 made me want to get the CQ on the road even more. Go figure.

So today I finally got the rest of the suspension bits in and put the car back on the floor. Still need to sort out the brakes, front tie-rods and quick-ratio rack before I try to start her back up and take her for what I am sure will be a nerve racking shakedown run

Anyway, some quick blackberry snaps to celebrate the first time my CQ has seen the light of day in 4 years:

G60 trans is 02A.... coarser teethed syncros than the 02J. 3rd gear is the problematic gear.

oh, and Brinskan, i'd rock that Lago CQ. :)

Well, a lesson I have learned from previous projects is, don't pull the motor til you absolutley have, too. So no matter what I do, I am going to build another motor and drop it in. Once a car sits off the road for too long, I loose interest.
