Hey MG group,

I continue to troubleshoot my driver seat switch problem on the CQ - rear backrest recline does not work...All other seat switches (seat bottom front/back, up/down, tilt front & rear) function normally, including the memory function. I pulled the the seat and inspected everything and nothing looks incorrect visually. I spent some time with Bentley and will need to do quite a bit of electrical troubleshooting. Either way, I'll need access to known working spares once I track this down. It's either the motor, the memory sender on the motor, the switch, or the memory module mounted underneath the seat. Since all the other switches work I speculate that it is either the motor, the sender (attached to the motor), or the individual seat recline switch. What's unfortunate is that the switch group is integrated as a complete harness for all the 5 motors which include 4 pigtails IICR. I have canvassed ebay/internet and have not located an available driver switch or motor. I'm not sure if these are specific to the CQ or if they cross-list with other models. ETKA catalog doesn't list a part number, oddly, for the switch.

If anyone has a spare driver seat that they would be willing to harvest, please reach out to me. Any leads would be helpful.

Challenge is finding a teammate who has a seat pulled and willing to open her up.... :thanks:

Ah. I have 2 sets of CQ seats taking up space in my garage but I’m quite far from you.

Are they in good shape? The leather that is? If they are not, would be willing to pay a reasonable "salvage value" for the parts... Switch, motors, module

They are in pretty good shape, leather is a little stiff. Is there an email I could send pictures to?

Bump

I've found a part number for this driver side switch: 894971384

Anyone have leads on someone breaking a 90 quattro or cq with seats out and not in resellable condition?

I'd rather not buy an entire chair to get this part and shipping a seat would no fun.

I have a switch im willing to part with. It's from a b4 90 quattro sedan. I used the seat mounts to install 94 s4 seats in my 80 quattro. The seat won't be used again.

Have you tried using 12v direct to the motor to see if its good. Thats how I tested the wiring to reconnect the motors on mine. I had to splice the 90 motors to the wiring of the s4 switches. I would also see if you can unplug and swap the connector to one of the other switches to verify it works.
