Hey all,

I'm trying to close out this headliner R&R and struggling to refit the front sunroof control panel. I suspected when replacing the very tight tolerance brackets back onto the headliner board that this may prove challenging. I was working with two sets of needle nose pliers which wasn't ideal. It was near impossible to just get them back in let alone have them shaped perfectly coming out. I imagine these were never supposed to be reused (at least not with your average mechanic tools).

Now that the headliner is now in place I'm worried about trying to reshape the the bracket as it very well could damage the covering. Any thoughts on alternatives to getting the panel to stay in place? It doesn't want to "clip in" at the front edge. And I forgot to take a picture of the shape before removing.

If someone wouldn't mind dropping their sunroof control panel and taking a picture that may help me identify where I need to reshape the bracket a bit.

Overall I'm happy with how it turned out. I made one mistake which was to cutout the rear vanity light before applying it to the rear. A note for others, this is one example where "measure twice cut once" isn't the appropriate turn of phase. Just apply, then cut once. :frustrated: Oh well. I patched it and you almost cannot tell unless sitting in the back and looking up at.

Did you get the info you need yet?

I have not. Thanks for checking in. I'd appreciate if you could pull it and snap a few photos from different angles.

Thanks again.

A couple pics. Looks like the brackets aren't perfectly bent at 90 degrees and leaning out a little bit... I hope this helpsImageImageImageImage

Thanks. Yeah, from the looks of it my leading edges need to curve up higher.

It's incredibly nerve wracking messing with that bracket. It is very stiff and requires considerable force with the needle nose pliers. And now that the new headliner material is on there, well, one slip and 20+ hours gone...
