Does anyone have an idea as to where I can find a shifter bushing for a 1995 Audi 90 Quattro sport? I have her in the dealership and they said that Audi doesn't make the bushing any more. The dealer tried local parts places with no effect, I really like the little Audi and would hate to have to junk her just because I can't find the part.
Thanks

exactly what bushing are you looking for? the ball/socket joint on the lever itself? There isn't much else other than that IRC...

If that is what you are looking for the socket plate is available and so is the ball part, IIRC you can also use bits from an A4 too.

yup... that + a short throw kit of some sort = everything solid.

i also have used a universal joint from Mc Master-Carr. Welded onto the shaft and drilled and tapped for the set screw on the trans. A bit harsh for regular driving though.

From that the dealership said it is the shifter bushing that secures it into the transmission? I had my normal mechanic change oil/anti-freeze and he said that he didn't have anything on how to install the bushing. He did push the shifter back towards the transmission and everything worked well for a time. I'm not mechanically minded so I go to those who do know how to fix problems. Thanks for all of the information. This is my 2nd Audi, in the mid 70's I had a 1972 100LS. Loved it except kept having issues with the automatic transmission.

Ya that's what I have in my 95 90, I like it. It's not super short but way better than stock IMO.

i also have a suspicion that the first short shifter that 034 lists is just a shifter from a vw scirraco that can be had for $30, I plan to try this on my 90.
That's because it is.
nice

Thanks to everyone who has responded! I believe that it is the shifter base and have ordered one. If per chance this doesn't work, I do have a nephew who is in one of the universities in Germany. I will email him if it doesn't work and see if he can figure out what needs to be done next.
Thanks everybody

i bet if you take that $30 base from the sciracco to your mechanic, he will be able to make it work just fine. Let us know how it turns out!

do you guys have more info on this? year? part #? my shifter's pretty bad so I need to do this asap...

hmmm...look at the B5 and B6 designs:

B6 on the left, B5 on the right - all plastic casing on the B6 vs aluminum on the B5

I wonder if you could take these apart and just swap out the middle section...that will be neat - especially if you can use the nice B6 ball without the plastic bit at the top...I`ll take some better pictures tonight and try to answer that...

NiTeC and everyone else, Thanks for the pictures, links and advice! It's wonderful that there are so many Audi fans n this site. I've had a couple of BMW's and their sites weren't anything in comparison to this one. I was lost at sea trying to figure out how to get the 90 fixed. It's one of the top 3 in fun cars that I've had. It's like a go-cart. I plan on increasing the horsepower this winter. Do you have any suggestions? I know that the K&M filters increase the power but was thinking of adding the computer chip too. Have any of you all tried the chips? One of my buds has a 88 325iX and I want to wear him out on the auto-crosses. Thanks again for all of the help
