OK everybody, Ive had the car running for a few months now and have been testing and tuning and finishing up all of the nagging issues that get left till the last moments. so with the car done(mostly), Ive driven and found what I had been hoping for when this build was over. my temps average significantly cooler than the were in stock form. temps sit between 1/4 mark and the larger 1/3 mark, which is the stock av temp. As I predicted, putting the rad in front was the right move.

as for the innercooler, thanks to hank and his excellent skill with the tig, I got my coolant tank done, hoses routed and set.

had a little prob with the pump for a few days. thought that the after-run pump would work fine to circulate the coolant. I was wrong. it turns out that it didn't have enough to do anything. so I went with a different pump that was similar but much more robust. It is a pump that is used as a bilge pump built by Johnson. It now pumps very well. I checked the temps before and after installation. significantly cooler. once I have the intake isolated from the vicinity of the turbo and exhaust temps, i figure it should keep the temps close to or a little bit above ambient. which is very good.

so now after the engine work is mostly done I decided to tackle that problem with the high mounted brake light. problem being, It has 16 incandescent bulbs and after a while, one or More gets burned out. you replace those, then a week later, one or more are out again. I got tired of replacing bulbs to say the least. I un-soldered all the bulb receivers and re-soldered 16 red LEDs I got. put it back together, installed in the car. then found where the connector was in the wheel well and put in the correct resistor so they don't burn out. it works great. slightly dimmer than before but very adequate. Of course the autocheck says no no. but Im working on that. will have that fixed soon. just a matter of putting a load resistor in the mix to simulate the amperage it no longer uses.

so I also got a set of headlights for it that weren't broken and/or messed up. once they got here Kelly and I took them apart to black out the valence surrounds. I also got smoked corner lights that I thought would match the car better. at first I was torn, thought maybe I should have gotten clear. but after I blacked out the headlight surrounds it looked much better.

thanks hybrid hatch for the lower headlight covers. I put them to good use.

Thanks to everyone whom helped with this build in any way.

here Is the 99% finished product after I drove it up to Udaho to visit my mamma.

I just have to say this thing drives like I always dreamed It would when I finished it. I do want to get a hold of you guys at 034 and see what you have in the way of a chip for my motronic. It already has a 3 bar map sensor and has already been socketed. what I have is mtm's 91 octane stage 1+, but it is antiquated and has its issues. I want to keep my k24 but might be persuaded to change the injectors.

In any case, this car is BADASS. Ive owned it for 15 yrs and have enjoyed every moment.

I would love to say Ill be there in October but I cant promise that. I will say that I very much want to be there. hopefully I can. I wont know that until closer to that date. remind me what date that is?

Yes, the fuzz wants to take me down! I have to be careful to the extreme. I have however kinda tested the waters so to speak, my roommate's fiancee is a po po, and we have tested how much faster my precious is than his crown vic. It wasn't really a contest. And I can tell you it is a very unique and very enjoyable feeling to run from the coppers without me going to jail. unfortunately unless he gets an upgrade, or since its a dodge maybe a downgrade, I wont know how much faster it is against their chargers.

If you are running the stock Motronic ECU from an S4 or S6, you can run the 034 Stage 1+ kit that I have in my 95 S6. The kit comes with the chipset, 3-bar v-map (which you already have), 36lb/hr RS2 replica injectors and a 1.9Bar WG spring. With just this and nothing else, the car should make about 300hp crank. My car has some other toys and is making 330hp crank/260whp.

As for drive-ability, it is awesome. The car feels like stock except faster. I can get 25-26mpg on the highway at about 78mph (I have a 6-spd swap). When I had the 5-spd, I was getting 23mpg on the highway. I run 93 octane Sunoco with no exceptions, but you can run the 91 octane with no issues as this is the design of the 034 chips. Good luck.

Man... your CQ is awesome man! I just found your thread and ya... I'd love to have one like this. Sure is a nice ride you've got yourself man!

i see one issue with getting s2 h4/h1 or rs2 headlights... they're wider than stock b3 headlights

your radiator won't work with them, did anyone else notice that?

the headlights now look good, i think you're stuck with them unless you find some 1-piece b3 headlights from europe.

good build though, smart idea to relocate the radiator to the front. what'd you do with all the space where it was? just the water-air cooler?

You have it the other way around, B3 lights are longer. Plus, the lights he has are B4's. I'm pretty sure B3 lights would not fit with his radiator.

thanks! yea this was a very enjoyable build. i love my car! ive owned this beauty for 16 years and still in love with her.

yea the rad in the front works better than i expected. once it started getting colder, the temp stays a little cooler so i may have to partially block it off. i figure once i build the ac and put a condenser in front of it, that may be just what it needed.

the rs2 headlights are designed to fit perfectly since it eliminates the corner light. im sure if you looked you would see what i mean. look at hybrid hatch's thread. he got himself a pair.

o yea, on the air to water is the only thing in that space. i have experienced enough heat soak to decide to change it a little bit. im thinking about moving the fluid reservoir to the rear and change the innercooler to prob double the size.

thanks ben. thats what 16 years and alot of blood ,sweat and tears, and then some love and patience put into a car will do. ive tried to sell it a few times but could never go through with it. im very glad i diddnt. if you have or find a car you love, stick with it, you will eventually get it where you want it. it took me a while to find and gather all the parts but i eventually got em.

Sean, thanks! I appreciate the pic. it really is a great example of the coupes.do you have that vid you took of my car on the dyno? id like to have it even though my motor flops around like i need to repair the snub mount this winter.
