finish the S4K which starts in the next week or so, dependent on when a project car I just got done doing some major mods to leaves here, hopefully sometime this week.
Woot!!!

Looking forward to seeing this! Does this mean the S4k is getting an RS6 motor (other than the block, naturally)? I thought I remembered you posting somewhere that it was going to be boosted in the future.

Na S4K is keeping its motor, and staying NA for this year. Motor is toast so needs a rebuild, will get rods, pistons and some love in general.

Nice!

LOL @ this thread coming up after Natrix's "hate for SBC" thread. But I do not think your work will be the hack type he speaks of, lol.

Just be careful when challenging other RS6's... they're approaching 550 hp+ft/lbs with a good tune, but I suppose having a manual might be to your advantage too though...

550ish turbo vs. 550 NA are two separate beasts...but keep in mind that they'll be faster for a few laps, but what about heat soak? My guess is he's gonna be quicker lap over lap as time passes.

The way Haydn wheels a car around, he will be faster. He wasn't even pushing it when I was with him and he was still damm fast!!
:p

should be fun. no doubt that the alum push rod v8 is a throttle response/packaging dream. interesting to see how the 01e deals with that throttle response and being in a heavy car. BTW would a home brew ABZtt fit well?

If the factory had a rough time packaging a 4.2 v8tt, I'm doubting homebrew will be very feasible. Now, there are things that Haydn could probably omit that the factory needed, but his comment earlier was that Audi spent LOTS of time and money on cramming everything tight into the engine bay. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thanks guys, and thanks Malcolm :) at some point this year I hope the S4K will be better again and no issues so it can get a proper flogging with you onboard.

I could do a TT ABZ for sure, it would basically be the same setup as the factory and I have all the stuff to do it, manifolds etc, just dump the slush box. But to be honest the performance would never be as good as with the LS and the cost would be significantly higher. The stock turbos are good to 500ish maybe a little more but more boost is more lag. And to be honest the simplicity of the NA LS approach is great. $3-5K for a brand new motor with a warranty is a steal. No need for intercoolers etc etc...'

The goal is a 'cheap', luxurious, easy to put together, interesting, offensive and fast DD for now.

I am saving this rare car from being crushed is the way I look at it. and in theory I am not doing anything to stop it being converted back at some point as there should be no need to cut the shell or chassis.

I so wish I could get into it right away but I have priorities damn it!

I think this is a brilliant idea. And having an LS power plant does achieve the "offensive" portion of your goals :D. Subscribed!

I was eyeing an A6 4.2 the other day with "mechanical" damage, but the engine runs. I couldn't help but think of 'Judas'. Get it done, and offer kits! I'm sure there would be at least a few people willing to commit Audi blasphemy.

my buddy and i vote for the ls3 motor! great aftermarket support... 500 easy hp
Yup, im leaning towards the LS3 too. LS1 crate motors are about $5K for a 400hp unit, its about $1000 more for the LS3 at 500hp with a lot more potential downstream.

We shall see....

I saw a 5.3 jy motor pick up almost 110 hp with just a cam swap! Went from low 300's to mid 400's. It's unreal what you can do for cheap with those motors.
