I must be crazy..........

Well after my 84 urq project I decided to build a sport quattro.

My good friend's Martin Pajak and Mike Hopton are planning on building
replica's , so not wanting to be left out, I decided that I was going to build one
also.

The basis for my build is my old 4000 quattro. This car has served me well for over
10 years, so I decided this is going to be the platform to build from.

I haven't seen anybody build a sport quattro from a 4000 quattro before, so I guess I may be
the first to use the complete 4000 floorpan for the build.

Pro's and con's of using the 4000 quattro floorpan.

Pro's:
The windshield angle is already correct

The car already has a 5 bolt conversion

Seeing as we don't get type 85 coupe quattro's over here, and I didn't have a urq to cut up, this would have to work.

Con's :

I still have to find a 2 door roof and doors.

The "b " pillar is going to have to be moved.

I have to find a coupe gt for the rear sheet metal.

I'm really pumped about this project, stay tuned for updates......

Cheers,

Craig Cook,
Tartan Motorsports and Fabrication.

ok...so you build a Ur one can eat off of....and now you are looking to finish an SQ before Martin? :bullshits: My best guess lol.
The plan is to build 3 of them

Martin Pajak is bulding his, Mike Hopton is going to be building his.
and .....well I didn't want to be left out.

There's no competition amongst us Canucks.............much

LOL, you need to go and drive that around the block!

Few years ago a friend of mine and I parted out B4 90. We took off hood, all 4 doors, trunk lid, bumpers and I think even front fenders...and went for a drive around his neighbourhood....the weirdest stares from people I've ever seen!

Need some Pillars? When I'm done with the CGT, I should have lots of leftovers body parts. I'd be glad to donate these parts to any of the sport quattro projects. Its for a good cause.
John,

We need to get together for a beer.

I know you need part of the roof for your cool urq project.

What I need is the whole car from about 6 inches in front off the
b pillar all the way back......so half the car really minus the floor pan.

I don't need the part you need....I think.

Beer would be a good idea......I'll bring my urq and you can take it
for a spin.

Cheers,

Craig

The only thing I really need from my Coupe GT is the front clip. I'm sure my URQ is rotten under the front fenders. As far as the roof goes, I don't need any of the inner bracing. I can straiten the bracing on my URQ. If I did need anything off the rear roof section, it would be the skin only. If you want the back half, consider it yours. I can't wait to see a sport quattro!

John,

That would be great.

I'll bring the beer.

Craig,

Want to go with me to Mark's on Sunday? We can drop by John's on the way back? ;)

Cheers
Yes,

that might work...I'll have to bring the wee one with me though.
Liz is draggon boat racing on Sunday.

It sounds like John will be home on Sunday, I'd like to see his project also.

I'll call you later today.

Cheers,

Craig

This is exciting to get to see this project come together, especially after watching the work and detail on the stiffened Red Urq that you just got done with. What I really want to know is how you are able to get money, ambition, and time to all come together at once? It seems I'm always missing one or two. :frustrated:
Keep us posted.
