Nice QSW, getting hard to find in clean shape like that.

 

Finally made the speakers fit..

Front door - i dont like it not being protected, i am trying to find another set of door pockets so i can customize something a little better..

the rear pods, nothing a dremel tool cant fix

had to trim the excess metal so it would fit in the pod

sitting pretty.

I should of took pic of the original blown speaker - it was GONE

 

One piece speedo cable works fine. Yesterday I got joy of replacing thermostat and fan switch and replaced a leaky upper radiator hose to head gasket... Now my coolant fan works and the temp stays low...

 

Cool I like these a lot. I saw one this morning while I was waiting for the bus. It had a turbo and sounded gnarly. I was like whooooaaa coool. Ya Vwvortex has too many DB's. I think theres a reason its nicknamed VWKotex :lol:

 

I was going to make one of these project threads on the vortex - but not alot of action over there and the attitudes suck.

I don't want to get in the middle of your squabble but I do agree that a fair number of the people who post on Vortex seem to be there simply to stir the pot. I rarely go there and never post, I find forums like this are a much better place to spend time and post. I need to check with you for more parts as well Issam.

How is this project going? Do you have any big plans for it or will it be brought back to higher standards and driven in a roughly stock form? These are pretty cool cars and we never got them in Canada so they are rare over here so it will be interesting to see where this one goes.

Welcome. I love QSWs and there r a lot here that do too. I'm not a fan of the vortex forums either, a lot of instigators and know it alls. I'm not gonna bash tho. Great car, its warms my heart to see ppl saving these rather then scrap them. I hope to find a clean one soon also. Don't let that post above discourage u, this place is filled with great info and great ppl.

I ran into the same thing, i was posting up over there in the Quantum section with not even any clicks on the threads.. ive had a screen name over here for awhile as i listed some nice 4x108 wheels i was selling a year or two ago over here.

I love my QSW except it SLOW - i had Audi 4000s Quattro 2 winters ago that now resides in Canada. I have a 10v turbo motor in my garage ( listed for sale on these forums ) i just not fan of turbo, maybe cuz i dont understand them and am scared of breaking stuff and making my car less reliable. I have a line on a 1991 Audi Coupe Quattro with a 20v NA motor in it that i am thinking about picking up for the motor swap.. i wouldnt attempt it until after the winter. Currently the QSW is my daily as i am all out of VW's sold my last 2 Mk2's last week.

I need to find an outside window scraper - so i dont get rain / snow into my door.

This car has manual windows and no power locks which kinda annoys me so i might install lock poppers and maybe an old school alarm or something as i always forget to lock the doors..

I find it funny that you are on motorgeek downcrying vwvortex. I wont get into it with you a public forum especially motorgeek as this place is somewhat home to me but I will state this for all to read. Do you remember our ABF ordeal? Dont think for a minute you can pull that stunt here.

We had a new employee working and you were sent a KIT which included a belt / additional hardware. A mistake we made and I asked if you would be willing to pay the difference.
Your reply was "your fault deal with it". Whether I asked , told or demanded reality is your response didnt change and you were irresponsible with the situation given the facts placed infront of you. Subsequently others had issues with you and I simply bit my lip as this was 3+ years ago. I welcomed you to MG (I am one of the first members here) but I think its hypocritical of someone like to come and complain about a forum (a forum which you have 27,000+ posts.... 27000!!!) as your intro to motorgeek.
Again there is alot to learn here and we welcome you but dont use insulting another forum as a way of gaining brownie points here.

I completely agree! When I first jumped into this forum I received so much help from everyone on my project and I tried my best to help others but the reason I deleted everything is because it turned into a strange place. Is it the community that has just turned on its head or what? I personally don't post that much here anymore because I have nothing to say about most of the just absolute useless non Audi related posts that happen here (I use the home page and it is filled with it). There are a ton of good people here but I find it gets ruined by the ones that have nothing better to do than literally spend their entire life on Motorgeek and feel that they need to share EVERYTHING! To me that is why I was turned off.... This guys project is awesome and I would love to see more of it and I think if you have an issue or are still mad about a business deal then you should maybe PM him and let him know.

Let the man have his thread and say whatever the hell he wants to say in it!
