well, this project is not actually dead. My girlfriend of 7 years (and fiance of the last year) and I broke up and it basically fucked up my entire life for a while. Needless to say I haven't touched this thing since that.

We had a mega ice storm last weekend so i spent most of the time trying to cut trees out of the way. Ran on diesel wheel horse generator power for 48 hours flawlessly. Only used about 4 gallons of #2 for the whole time!

check out this ice, what a pain in the ass

of course this weather always means iced up horses, so into the shop for a defrost they go.

pulled the harness and pedal cluster out of the doner mk3 tdi. What a pain, I hate removing factory harnesses!

so i guess there hasn't been a ton of progress, but there has been a little. Soon I'll get the pyle of mk3 out of the shop and bring the 90 in and pull the 7a.

Progress is good, that ice is deep, congrats on being single...
yea that ice was a bitch.
Being single...meh, its alright. Been a long time since I've been a free agent. Turns out owning a house and being a 30 year old dude with his shit somewhat figured out puts you in a pretty good spot.

Damn, sorry to hear about the break up, but maybe it's a good thing.. Plenty of bars around here, let me know if you wanna pound some beers and talk about stupid shit.

Positive outlook?

This car is all yours. TDI quattro will be had.

Glad to see this project progressing. That is a lot of ice, havent had one like that down here for a while. Sorry to hear about the break up. I know what that can do to your mind.

and yes, that is a fully intact belly pan that I found under this thing. Never seen one for a b3 before.

Progress! Looking good Dana can't wait for a ride in a diesel quattro!

And I want to drive the tractor :D

you can drive the tractor anytime. Not to thrilling, but sounds cool!
I want a ride in the diesel quattro too. This winter has been pissing me off so bad, its the first one I have been in for at least 8 years without a quattro. I wont have it ready before spring, but im not going through another winter without it!

so today I attempted to fit the tdi to the 01a to see what the engine mount situation is. It appears that either the oil pan or the front crossmember will need to be notched. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Also the oil filter looks like it might collide with the drivers side mount arm on the frame rail. Was hoping to leave that in place and build the engine side mounts to suit.

First test fit in the bay

Appears that a filter is not going to fit here. Is there something that can mount where the filter was and make it remote? Also, how the hell am i going to get this nasty bay clean in the middle of winter....Not sure yet, maybe 10 cases of brake cleaner?

aeb oilpan/pick up/windagetray too.
yes on all
theres a lot of pics of the AEB oil filter housing, oil pump , pan , and pickup tube in my 16v/aba 4kq thread in my sig, it all fits like a glove

Very cool White Audi!! I love those US-spec B3.
Regarding the TDI-conversion...supergreat!! :)
If there are any questions, don´t hesitate to ask. I have got a Passat Variant with AFN/DQS as my daily driver and i´m into preparing my 5000 S Avant TDI for being my second daily driver. I´ts converted from 5-cylinder automatic Transmission to a 1Z with Manual Transmission. Special Information over here is...the TDI-engine is equipped with a Bosch 0460424124 fuel pump. THIS ensures a lot of fun!
Good luck and best regards from Germany!
